Thuan Bac District Farmers' Association: Supporting members in economic development

Identifying that caring for and improving the lives of members and farmers is the top priority, in recent years, the Farmers' Association of Thuan Bac district has had many programs and activities to support members and farmers in economic development, sustainable poverty reduction, and contributing to the construction of new rural areas.

To effectively carry out this task, the Association has continuously promoted propaganda, mobilization, innovation, improvement of quality and efficiency, bringing the movement of farmers competing in good production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty deeply into the lives of members and farmers. To help members improve production and business efficiency, the Association has built and developed high-value economic models; mobilized, guided and supported farmers to participate in developing collective economic forms in agriculture. In the past 5 years, the Association has coordinated to establish 2 new cooperatives, bringing the total number of cooperatives in the district to 7, with 78 members, of which agricultural service cooperatives account for 63%; organized and maintained the activities of 100 cooperative groups; established 34 branches and professional associations, with 317 members. Branches and associations operate stably, creating links in production and business according to the value chain and are also the premise for the formation of cooperatives and cooperatives, contributing to the development of the collective economy, connecting members, farmers and businesses.

From the Farmers' Support Fund, the Association at all levels has disbursed more than 6 billion VND to 252 farmer households to borrow to implement 31 models of cultivation, livestock and aquaculture; in addition, in coordination with the District Social Policy Banks and the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, it has created conditions for the Association and farmers to borrow a total outstanding loan of over 207 billion VND, contributing to creating conditions for people to produce and do business, solve employment problems and increase income.

In addition to capital support, the Association also coordinated to organize 14 training sessions on techniques: Raising black pigs on biological bedding, fattening cows, free-range chickens, caged lobsters, safe vegetables, hybrid corn... for more than 870 participants; 4 training sessions, propaganda on the environmentally friendly rice farming project in Bac Phong commune for 140 members of cooperatives, cooperative groups, students, farmers; mobilized and introduced 1,279 students to study vocational skills: industrial sewing, cultivation techniques, animal husbandry, lathe, welding... In addition, organized 15 consultation sessions, introducing new jobs for 1,082 workers. The Association also supported local students to maintain the promotion of 3 OCOP products including: Black pork, chicken and wild honey; coordinated with the District Post Office to train and introduce e-commerce platforms for cadres, students, farmers; At the same time, support 2 production facilities and some farmers and farmers in Bac Phong, Phuoc Chien and Phuoc Khang communes to register to open trading accounts to bring agricultural products such as: gray oyster mushrooms, hydroponic vegetables, baskets, clean custard apples to the e-commerce platform Postmart.vn.

It is noteworthy that through emulation movements and the support of the Association, many members and farmers have promoted their internal strength, innovated their thinking, had many good practices, actively applied science and technology, and built many production and business models with high economic value. Typically, farmers in Bac Phong commune formed large fields, bringing mechanization into production from land preparation to harvesting; farmers in Loi Hai commune joined together to build a specialized area of 11 hectares of green asparagus; farmers in the communes of Bac Son, Loi Hai, Phuoc Khang... boldly converted the area of planting ineffective crops to planting crops with high economic value: Melon, aloe vera... with a scale of nearly 150 hectares... On average, every year, the District Farmers' Association has more than 3,000 members registering to strive for good production and business at all levels; through evaluation and review, about 700 households achieved. The movement is also a driving force, helping members and farmers promote the spirit of solidarity, mutual assistance, and support for economic development. From internal funds, in the past 5 years, the association at all levels has supported and helped 678 farmers' households in difficult circumstances to borrow capital to do business, many of which have risen out of poverty, becoming households with average or good living standards.

Therefore, the Association always attaches importance to supporting and caring for the lives of farmers, considering this a core task throughout its operations.

The task of the association at all levels in the coming time is to continuously innovate, improve the quality and effectiveness of the movement of farmers competing in good production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty. Build and replicate models with economic efficiency; guide and support farmers to participate in developing collective economic forms. Strive to have 100% of the association bases cooperate to build at least 1 cooperative to cooperate and develop according to the value chain by 2028. At the same time, innovate and improve the quality of operations of existing branches and professional associations, continue to establish branches and professional associations associated with capital sources from the Farmers' Support Fund at all levels.

Strengthen propaganda and mobilize members and farmers to participate in the implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Development. Strengthen coordination with relevant agencies to organize consulting and support activities for farmers to convert crops and livestock. Continue to replicate effective models from the Farmers' Support Fund at all levels; promptly implement programs, credits, and loan policies for poor households and policy beneficiaries. Coordinate to effectively implement the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, period 2020-2025. Strive every year to have at least 60% of students and farmers access necessary knowledge about skills, information, markets, science - high technology in agricultural production, creating conditions for farmers to develop production, build brands, bring agricultural products to the e-commerce platform Posmart.vn... Thereby contributing to improving production and business efficiency, income and life for students and farmers.
