Speaking at the conference, Mr. Trinh Minh Hoang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said: In recent years, shrimp seed production activities in the province have been continuously invested and developed, meeting over 30% of the country's shrimp seed demand. Shrimp seed output in 2023 reached 41 billion postlarvae. The " Ninh Thuan Shrimp Seed" certification label and the reputation of Ninh Thuan shrimp seed are highly appreciated by the market nationwide. Promoting the strength of shrimp seed production, Ninh Thuan strives that by 2030, the whole province will have 20% of facilities with a minimum capacity of 0.5 billion postlarvae/year; 100% of facilities meet the conditions for aquaculture seed production according to regulations and are monitored for disease safety against dangerous diseases; shrimp seed output is more than 60 billion postlarvae/year and 100% of shrimp seed exported from the province are quarantined and qualified; Proactively produce 60% domesticated whiteleg shrimp broodstock and 80% domesticated black tiger shrimp broodstock with high quality, disease-free, and disease-resistant.

To achieve the 2024 target (farming area of 737,000 hectares; output of 1,065 thousand tons; export turnover of 4-4.3 billion USD; 260,000-270,000 parent shrimp; production and rearing of about 140-155 billion shrimp), Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien requested agencies, units, associations, brackish water shrimp production and rearing facilities to proactively source parent shrimp from domestic production through linkages in research and production, paying special attention to linkages between enterprises and research units to quickly put products into actual production. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development closely coordinates with localities, industry associations and enterprises to promptly resolve difficulties, overcome disadvantages and challenges, maximize opportunities to accelerate production, and ensure the set growth target.
At the conference, the Department of Fisheries and localities signed the "Regulations on brackish water shrimp seed management in 2024" to strengthen management and information sharing, contributing to limiting the circulation of substandard shrimp seed to key farming areas.
