11th grade students 'try' high school graduation exam with new question format

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training will organize for 11th grade students across the city to take a test according to the 2025 high school graduation exam format on March 12 to familiarize them with this format.

About 100,000 students will take part in the "mock exam" in the format of the high school graduation exam from 2025.

It is expected that about 100,000 students will participate in this survey. These are students who will take the high school graduation exam in 2025, the first year for students studying under the 2018 General Education Program.

According to the plan of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the test will be held in 1 day with 2 subjects: literature (morning) and math (afternoon). In which, students will take the literature test in 120 minutes, in the form of an essay test; and the math test will take 90 minutes in the form of an objective test.

Grade 11 students studying under the high school education program and grade 11 students studying under the continuing education program both participated in the survey with these two subjects. The test content is within the scope of the education program studied up to the time of the test.

This is the first time the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has organized a quality assessment test for 11th graders. Every year, Hanoi organizes this activity but applies it to 12th graders. This year, 12th graders will also participate in the quality assessment test to prepare for the high school graduation exam, which will take place in April.

The purpose of organizing student surveys is to determine the level of completion of students' training and learning tasks according to program requirements, providing accurate and timely information, helping students adjust their learning and training.

Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the decision and sample exam format structure for high school graduation exams from 2025. In this decision, the Ministry of Education and Training stated that the exam format structure is the basis for building a question bank and making exam questions for high school graduation exams from 2025.

According to the decision of the Minister of Education and Training, students taking the high school graduation exam from 2025 will only have to take 4 subjects (instead of 6 subjects as at present), including 2 compulsory subjects: math, literature and 2 elective subjects from the remaining subjects studied in grade 12, including: foreign languages, history, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, economic and legal education, information technology, technology.
