Completing the relocation and connection of high voltage underground cables at Metro 2 station in Ho Chi Minh City

On the afternoon of December 18, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR) said that the unit had completed the relocation and connection of the 110kV underground high-voltage cable line to serve the construction of the S2 - Tao Dan station of Metro 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong Metro line).

Metro Line No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong) has an investment of nearly 47,900 billion VND, more than 11km long.

According to MAUR, site clearance and relocation of technical infrastructure works affected by the project is very important to create a "clean" site to speed up the construction progress of Metro Line 2.

In March 2024, MAUR will simultaneously construct 12 stations and open-cut sections on the entire Metro Line 2 along Pham Hong Thai, Cach Mang Thang Tam and Truong Chinh streets.

In particular, the relocation and connection of the 110KV underground high-voltage cable line is affected by the project at 2 locations including S4 - Hoa Hung station area (belonging to the 110KV cable line Tao Dan - Truong Dau and Tao Dan - Hoa Hung) and S2 - Tao Dan station (belonging to the 110KV cable line Tao Dan - Ben Thanh).

Specifically, at station S2 - Tao Dan (belonging to the 110KV Tao Dan - Ben Thanh cable line), up to now, the work of relocating the 110KV high-voltage power plant has achieved important results and changes.

" Currently, the contractor has completed the cable pulling, connection and testing work according to the regulations of the electricity industry for the Southern Power System Control Center to check, agree and energize circuit 1 on December 14. In addition, the contractor is continuing to pull cables and connect circuit 2 to complete energization on December 24, 2024," informed the MUAR representative.

At S4 - Hoa Hung station, 390m must be relocated, with 6 cables. Currently, the contractor is constructing cable trenches and connecting tunnels, pulling cables is expected to be completed before December 26, 2024 and cable pulling and electrical connection is expected to be completed before January 20, 2025.

“This is an important step and milestone in the construction of relocating 110kV high-voltage technical infrastructure works affected by the project, contributing to increasing the value of project capital disbursement in 2024, drawing experience, and at the same time handing over the site to construction units to implement the project as planned,” said a MAUR representative.

Metro Line 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong) has an investment of nearly 47,900 billion VND, more than 11 km long, of which more than 9 km is underground, the rest is elevated, transit and depot access. This metro line passes through 6 districts: District 1, 3, 10, 12, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, connecting the central area to the Northwest gateway.

The project was approved more than a decade ago, and after many adjustments, is now expected to be completed in 2030.
