Coach Enrique is having an impressive season with PSG. |
On the morning of March 30, PSG won a big victory over Saint-Etienne away from home in round 27 of Ligue 1. Luis Enrique's team continued to assert their absolute dominance in the French football league, becoming a nightmare for any opponent who dares to stand in their way.
With their thrashing of Saint-Étienne, PSG equalled AC Milan's record of 38 away games unbeaten in the national championship. From 1991 to 1993, AC Milan wowed the world with a 42-match unbeaten streak in all competitions, including 38 away games in Serie A.
With 38 unbeaten matches in Ligue 1 over the past two seasons, coach Enrique and his students have made history, and are on their way to breaking many other records.
The longest unbeaten streak in the history of Europe's top flight is still held by Benfica, with 48 games unbeaten in the Portuguese league, between 1963 and 1965.
This season, coach Enrique's team has not lost in Ligue 1 after 27 rounds, the only team in the top 5 European national championships to remain unbeaten. More broadly, in all domestic tournaments in Europe this season, there are only 5 teams that have remained unbeaten since the beginning of the season (not counting the national championships with their own characteristics - in Northern Europe and Eastern Europe - that started at the beginning of this year).
They are PSG (France), Crvena zvezda (Serbia), Dynamo Kyiv (Ukraine), St Joseph's (Gibraltar), La Fiorita (San Marino). This achievement clearly reflects the outstanding talent of the Asturian strategist, especially when PSG said goodbye to Kylian Mbappe at the beginning of this season.
