Graduating with honors and many achievements in research and training, Luu Dinh Nam was retained by the Military Technical Academy as a lecturer.
The end of 2023 is the most special day for Luu Dinh Nam, a Torpedo major student at the Military Technical Academy. Nam represented nearly 340 students to take the oath at the graduation ceremony, received an excellent engineering degree with the rank of lieutenant, and received the decision to stay and work at the Military Technical Academy. Of the approximately 500 students of this course, only 6 were retained by the Academy as lecturers.
"It was a memorable moment in my life," Nam said, adding that this achievement represented his efforts over more than 5 years of studying, researching, and training.

Dinh Nam is 24 years old, from Thai Binh . Since childhood, Nam has loved watching the show "We are soldiers". Inspired by the stories of his uncle and aunt - soldiers in the Vietnam People's Army, Nam also dreamed of one day wearing a soldier's uniform.
During his time studying at Bac Dong Quang High School in Thai Binh Province, Nam decided to apply to university with a combination of Math, Physics, and Chemistry. Because he loved engineering, Nam researched and chose the Military Technical Academy.
Unlike most students from non-military schools who only study in one location, Nam experienced studying in many environments throughout his 5.5 years.
The Military Technical Academy has 7 military bases serving training and scientific research. During the first two weeks of his first year, Nam studied at the base in Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi, to familiarize himself with the 11 military regimes, learn about the history of the academy and complete some paperwork.
After that, Nam spent 6 months at the Army Officer School 1 in Son Tay, Hanoi. Nam compared this period to training new recruits, learning from the most basic things such as troop orders to learning tactics and studying political subjects.
With general subjects such as Analysis, Physics, some subjects about weapons and tactics, Nam was trained at the facility in Vinh Yen, Vinh Phuc. In the second semester of his second year, Nam studied at the school's main campus in Bac Tu Liem, Hanoi, and was assigned to study Torpedoes.
Nam was awarded a military rank and a decision by the Minister of National Defense on personnel at the graduation ceremony on December 28, 2023 by the Director of the Military Technical Academy. Photo: Duong Tam
For Nam, Torpedo is a very strange industry.
"I was quite confused when I was assigned because I didn't know what a torpedo was. I searched online and only knew that this was an underwater weapon. I asked my seniors but not many people knew about it because the number of trainees was small, some years there was none," Nam recalled. Like Nam's class, this major at the Military Technical Academy only had 9 students.
Since studying in depth in the major, especially in the 5th year of studying at the Naval Academy in Nha Trang, Nam has been very interested in knowing all the features and operations of this weapon. Nam has participated in two school-level scientific research projects, one of which was on torpedo homing head testing machines, directly related to his major.
Interested in both studying and researching, Nam wishes to stay at the Academy as a lecturer because he believes that "this is the optimal environment to develop his strengths and interests". After sharing his wishes with his teachers and being shown a clear direction, the young man from Thai Binh set a goal of graduating with honors and accumulating as many achievements as possible.
As a class monitor, Nam had to study, research, and support his classmates and juniors at the same time. Nearing graduation, Nam was overwhelmed because he only had about 4 months to complete his graduation project, write an article for the school magazine, and review for the exams in Party work, political work, and Russian.
"The amount of knowledge and reference materials was so large that I had to concentrate very hard. Many days I sat up until late at night, with the goal of getting enough points to keep my excellent degree," Nam said.
The male student maintains a focused learning method in class, actively self-studying, and taking as many notes as possible according to the principle of "writing must understand". Nam also participates in sports activities to exercise and reduce stress.
Finally, Nam became one of 45 students who graduated with honors in the entire course with a total score of 8.3/10, meeting all 5 output standards of the school including professional knowledge and skills, foreign languages, basic information technology application, physical strength, discipline and formal demeanor.
Nam also has about 15 other achievements, including the titles of grassroots emulation fighter, advanced fighter, Uncle Ho badge, and Excellent Student badge.
A representative of the Military Technical Academy said that Nam was highly regarded by the lecturers. The decision to retain Nam as a lecturer was based on the department's recommendation and Nam's wishes.
Nam said he will continue to improve his professional knowledge, Russian and English to successfully complete assigned tasks in the coming time.
