In June, Vietnam welcomed more than 286,000 Korean visitors, equal to nearly 90% compared to the same period in 2019 and continued to be the leading international tourist market in Vietnam.
Data from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism released this afternoon showed that the number of Korean visitors in June increased by 15% compared to May and was nearly 90% of 2019, before the Covid-19 outbreak.
In the first 6 months of the year, Korea also ranked first, with more than 1.6 million visitors out of a total of 5.57 million international visitors. Compared to the same period in 2019, the number of visitors was nearly 80%.

According to Ms. Huynh Phan Phuong Hoang, Deputy General Director of Vietravel Tourism Company, there are many factors that make Korea the largest international tourist market to Vietnam in the first half of this year. One of them is the short flight time of five hours, many flights and cheap prices. One-way tickets from Incheon to Tan Son Nhat are from 2.9 million VND.
Beautiful natural scenery, many beaches with clear blue water, hotel room prices, cuisine, shopping and many tourist activities that do not cost too much are also advantages. Korean tourists can easily find the Korean atmosphere in Vietnam when many businesses hang Korean signs such as barbecue restaurants, coffee shops, and beauty salons.
According to Mr. Ho Anh Vu, Head of Marketing and Communications of Banyan Tree Lang Co (Hue), weather conditions are also a strength for the Vietnamese tourism industry. Korean golfers will come to Vietnam during the winter months, when most golf courses in Korea are frozen.
Hue's weather in the last months of the year will be rainy, but Korean tourists still come here to play golf thanks to the good course conditions, high-quality and diverse services, and more pleasant weather than in Korea. "Even though the end of the year is the low tourist season in Hue, we still have a good number of visitors from Korea," said Mr. Vu.
In addition to Korea, some other markets also increased in June including: the US (up 52%), Norway (51%), Singapore (48%), Laos (25%), Taiwan (21%), Philippines (10%).
The markets with a decrease in the number of visitors compared to May were mainly European visitors: France (down 41%), Hong Kong (37%), Belgium (33%), Italy (31%), Canada (31%), Switzerland (28%), Netherlands (27%), Denmark (22%).
