The My Thuy Port Construction Investment Project is a dynamic project of special importance to Quang Tri province, a gateway to the East Sea on the East-West Economic Corridor.
This is a deep-water seaport, with a very favorable location to act as a transit hub for goods on the East-West Economic Corridor, especially when goods passing through La Lay international border gate have tended to increase sharply in recent times.
After a period of preparing relevant conditions, My Thuy International Port Joint Stock Company (MTIP) has officially announced the commencement of construction of My Thuy seaport on March 25, 2024.
In order to contribute with the management agencies of Quang Tri province to facilitate the My Thuy Port Project during the project construction process, Quang Tri Customs Department has proactively researched relevant customs legal regulations and provided information to businesses.
On October 4, 2019, the Government issued Decision No. 16/QD-TTg approving the investment policy for the construction of My Thuy Port Area.
The project has a total investment of 14,234 billion VND, a scale of 685 hectares including 10 ports, can receive ships with a capacity of 100,000 tons, invested in 3 phases from 2018-2036 with an investment capital of about 5,000 billion VND for each phase.
On June 28, 2022, Quang Tri Customs Department decided to establish a Research Team to deploy customs management activities at My Thuy International Port and assign specific responsibilities to members of the Team in researching and coordinating with My Thuy International Port Joint Stock Company (MTIP) to deploy necessary procedures for port construction.
Recently, the leaders of Quang Tri Customs Department directly worked with the project investor to advise on infrastructure construction and guide some necessary conditions to ensure state management of customs to facilitate future trade and tourism activities.
At the same time, chair the meeting of the Research Team to continue discussing contents related to Project implementation.
After listening to the report of the members of the Team on the research situation and coordination with MTIP in the implementation, the leaders of Quang Tri Customs Department directed the staff departments and the Cua Viet Port Customs Branch to actively guide the project investor on the basic and necessary requirements and standards on customs management in accordance with the current design of the Project.
On the other hand, proactively research and implement procedures for requesting land for headquarters construction, procedures for requesting additional public investment projects for the 2024-2026 and 2025-2031 periods of the General Department of Customs; as well as research and propose the establishment of an apparatus model that meets the requirements of state management of customs.
Timely report to the General Department of Customs for guidance on regulations on customs operation areas and recognition of customs inspection locations when the Project begins to operate.
In the coming time, Quang Tri Customs Department will continue to coordinate in implementing the construction and installation of infrastructure systems and equipment to serve the process of customs inspection and supervision and support import and export activities of goods at the Port Area according to regulations, while supporting MTIP to complete the project investment objectives approved by competent authorities.
