Turnover increased by 512%
On December 9, 2023, the Mong Cai International Border Gate Management Board issued Notice No. 365/QB-QLCK notifying the General Department of Customs of China to allow 3 designated management and supervision areas at Dong Hung road border gate (Bac Luan II area, Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh) to carry out procedures for the following items: imported frozen seafood, imported aquatic animals used as food, and imported plant varieties.
According to Mong Cai Border Gate Customs Branch, up to now, in addition to traditional goods, there are a total of 6 items including: fruits, food, frozen seafood, aquatic animals used as food, plant varieties and herbs that are allowed to be imported into China through Dong Hung border gate, Bac Luan II bridge area.
Mong Cai Border Gate Customs Branch has proactively disseminated information to the business community, exchanged information, and promptly handled difficulties in customs procedures for businesses.
At the same time, the Department arranges officers and civil servants to handle procedures outside of office hours, on holidays, and on weekends, ensuring the fastest and most convenient customs clearance for businesses.
On the other hand, proactively coordinate with warehouse and yard businesses and related forces at the border gate area to arrange locations and create conditions for preserving and classifying the quality of goods of businesses while waiting for export; regulate traffic for vehicles to enter and exit without congestion, ensure security and order and prevent instability that affects the export activities of businesses.
After 3 months of implementation, 44 enterprises have imported and exported agricultural, aquatic and seafood products through Bac Luan II Bridge Customs Clearance, with 422 declarations, turnover reaching 34.3 million USD, total weight of 4,656 tons, an increase of 293% in the number of declarations, an increase of 387% in turnover and an increase of 230% in weight compared to the same period in 2022.
It is worth mentioning that agricultural, aquatic and seafood exports increased sharply, with a total of 333 declarations, turnover reaching 31.7 million USD, total weight of 3,320 tons, an increase of 537% in the number of declarations, an increase of 512% in turnover and an increase of 372% in weight compared to the same period in 2023. The main import and export items include imported frozen fish, ornamental fish, fish fry... and frozen fish, live lobsters, live crabs, snails, fresh fruits, dried fruits, tra fish bladders... for export.
Removing difficulties for businesses
According to Nguyen Van Duong, Deputy Head of Mong Cai Border Gate Customs Branch, with the spirit of openness and listening, the Branch has implemented many solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles of enterprises and worked closely with enterprises to find bottlenecks and solutions.
The Department also proactively sends working groups to directly visit businesses, especially potential businesses in Hai Phong, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, etc. to exchange information, provide guidance, and grasp business activities to record arising problems, make proposals and recommendations, thereby having measures to remove difficulties for businesses.
According to the records of Mong Cai Border Gate Customs Branch, many enterprises and traders carrying out procedures through Bac Luan II Bridge Customs Clearance highly appreciated the facilitation solutions of the Customs agency in promoting the export of agricultural, aquatic and seafood products in recent times.
As a seafood export enterprise through Bac Luan II Bridge Customs Clearance, Mr. Ngo Van Tung, representative of Bach Dang International Company Limited, shared: Regarding paperwork procedures, problems with records and policies, the Customs agency has enthusiastically supported the enterprise to complete procedures as quickly as possible and created all conditions for the Company to quickly clear goods, ensuring on-time delivery with partners according to the signed contract.
With optimistic signals above expectations in 2024, trade activities through the area continue to flourish, especially Vietnam's agricultural and aquatic products exports.
