Ha Tinh proposes directions to improve the effectiveness of foreign affairs work

Ha Tinh leaders shared lessons learned on promoting the role of Party diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy in relations with Laos and proposed directions to improve the effectiveness of foreign relations in the coming time.

On the morning of November 24, the Central External Relations Commission held an online conference to disseminate and guide the implementation of Project 01-DA/TW dated March 3, 2022 of the Secretariat on strengthening and improving the effectiveness of the Party's external relations until 2025 and Directive No. 12-CT/TW dated January 5, 2022 of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership and improving the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation.

At the conference, delegates were briefed on the core contents and instructions for implementing Project No. 01 of the Party Central Committee Secretariat on enhancing the effectiveness of the Party's foreign relations by 2025.

The focus is to continue to effectively implement the Party's policy on foreign information work. Innovate the content and methods of foreign information, promote the image of the country, people and culture of Vietnam in the world. Fight against false and negative information that affects national interests. Improve the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms between Vietnam and countries around the world, contributing to creating and maintaining a peaceful and stable environment.

The conference also disseminated and guided the implementation of the contents of Directive No. 12 of the Party Central Committee Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership and improving the effectiveness of people's diplomacy in the new situation. It affirmed that people's diplomacy is the task of the entire political system, of each cadre, party member and citizen.

Directive No. 12 requires Party committees, authorities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and people's organizations to perform well their tasks to improve the effectiveness of people's foreign affairs. Thereby contributing to building a comprehensive and modern diplomacy with three pillars: Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy and people's foreign affairs.

Speaking at the conference, delegates from the connecting points shared the results of foreign affairs work in each locality and field in the past time; at the same time, analyzed and clarified the contents to effectively implement the Central's projects and directives in the field of foreign affairs.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that, implementing the Party's foreign policy, in recent times, Ha Tinh has always focused on consolidating and tightening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Lao localities; in which, special attention has been paid to preserving and cultivating the special friendship with Bolikhamxay province and comprehensive cooperation with Khammouane province, Vientiane capital, Savannakhet; expanding cooperation with the northern Lao provinces. In the process of implementing cooperation, the province has always closely coordinated on all three foreign affairs fronts: Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy and People's foreign affairs.

To continue promoting the results achieved in foreign affairs, the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province said that it is necessary to continue to propagate and thoroughly grasp the policies and orientations of the Party and State on building and nurturing the great friendship between Vietnam and Laos, especially among the young generation; localities sharing the border with the neighboring country need to regularly coordinate, enhance information exchange, coordinate in managing and protecting the border, the national border marker system, maintain sovereignty, political stability, social order and safety in border areas...

Continue to advise on the implementation of the project to expand the road section between the two international border gates Cau Treo - Nam Phao (Laos side), expand the fixed passenger transport route Ha Tinh (Vietnam) - Tha Khec (Laos) - Nakhonphanom (Thailand) and vice versa.

Continue to focus on economic and trade development cooperation, remove difficulties for Vietnamese enterprises when investing in Laos; have policies to encourage enterprises and people to develop economy and trade in border areas; pay attention to improving the lives of border residents.

Strengthen friendly exchange and cooperation activities with Lao localities; focus on sectors, exchange and share experiences so that cooperation programs become practical and effective. Pay attention to training and fostering Lao language for officials and civil servants working at agencies, units and localities that have cooperative relationships with Laos.

Ha Tinh proposed that the Central Government soon issue regulations to facilitate local support for projects to help friends build infrastructure and social security ; soon amend Decision 272 of the Politburo on promulgating the unified regulations on foreign affairs activities...

The conference was broadcast online to 63 locations nationwide.

Concluding the conference, Secretary of the Party Central Committee - Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung emphasized the important role of Party foreign affairs and people's foreign affairs in the new situation. From there, in implementing foreign affairs tasks, it is absolutely necessary to ensure the leadership of the Party; closely and synchronously coordinate, ensure the overall strategy and cohesion between the three pillars of Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy, and people's foreign affairs.

Comrade Le Hoai Trung suggested that relevant localities and sectors continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the foreign policy of the 13th National Congress and the resolutions and directives of the Politburo and Secretariat related to foreign affairs, concretizing them into projects, programs and plans suitable to reality.

In foreign affairs, units and localities continue to focus on expanding and developing the Party's foreign relations in depth, enhancing trust, creating a solid political foundation for bilateral relations; strongly promoting the unique advantages of the Party's foreign relations channel to contribute to effectively resolving major issues in bilateral relations. Continue to promote the position and role of people-to-people diplomacy, consolidating the foundation of friendship with people of other countries.

Continuously promote and improve the effectiveness of foreign information work, seek solidarity and support from the international community for the cause of national construction and defense, enhance the international prestige and position of the Party and the country; innovate and be creative in implementing foreign affairs activities to adapt to the changing international environment...
