Hanoi is concerned that the 25m distance from the storage area to the exam room is not safe enough.

To ensure safety for the 2024 high school graduation exam, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has proposed and recommended a number of contents to the Ministry of Education and Training.

In particular, Hanoi believes that the arrangement of a safe location, at least 25m away from the exam room to preserve candidates' personal belongings according to current regulations, is still inadequate.

The reason is that technology is developing rapidly, many devices can connect at a distance of over 25m.

Hanoi also proposed that the Ministry issue guidelines for the list of handheld calculators or suggest a list of handheld calculators allowed in the examination room.

Currently, the lack of a specific list of handheld calculators causes difficulties for exam supervisors and is also a loophole for candidates to use high technology to cheat on exams.

Meanwhile, the capacity of the exam supervisors is not enough to check and control high-tech cheating devices. For example, the Casio 850 handheld calculator contains information about chemistry such as the periodic table, solubility table, etc.

The Department also recommended that the Ministry of Public Security have a plan to guide security at examination sites in checking and controlling sophisticated high-tech cheating devices, or have specific training for exam invigilators at examination sites.

Hanoi is the locality with the largest number of high school graduation exam candidates in the country. The whole city has 108,573 candidates, accounting for 10% of the total candidates nationwide.

About 95,000 of these candidates took the exam under the high school education program and more than 13,500 candidates took the exam under the continuing education program.

The city had to organize 196 examination sites in 30 districts, towns and cities. The number of officers mobilized to participate in the examination supervision work was more than 15,000 people, the number of officers participating in marking the examinations was about 600 people.

The 2024 High School Graduation Exam will take place over 5 days from June 26-29 with the participation of more than 1 million candidates nationwide.

Candidates will complete procedures on the afternoon of June 26.

On June 27, candidates will take the literature exam in the morning and math in the afternoon.

On June 28, candidates will take the natural science or social science test in the morning and the foreign language test in the afternoon.

June 29 is the backup exam date.
