Hanoi has implemented many important initiatives to build a comprehensive smart city. The city has activated VNeID electronic identification accounts for nearly 100% of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers, contributing to improving the efficiency of administrative management. 4G mobile network and fiber optic infrastructure have covered 100% of communes, wards and towns. In particular, Hanoi plans to complete the installation of 2,000 5G stations by the end of 2024, making the capital a pioneer in new-generation telecommunications connections.
Hanoi is recognized not only for its modern infrastructure but also for its innovative ability to provide public services. Systems such as public investment management, geographic information base maps and intelligent traffic signal control have been widely deployed, significantly improving management efficiency and the quality of life of its people.
Over the past year, the city has also promoted the application of technology in environmental management, such as air quality monitoring and water resource management. All of these initiatives are part of the direction of sustainable, smart and environmentally friendly urban development.
The Vietnam Smart City Award 2024 emphasizes the dual goal of national digital transformation: “Digital goes with Green ” . Localities participating in the award such as Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Thu Duc all brought typical initiatives. However, Hanoi has affirmed its pioneering position with remarkable steps in improving public services and developing infrastructure.
