Chu Van An High School (formerly Buoi School) was established by the French government in 1908, covering an area of about 42,000 m2. This is one of the 5 high schools over 100 years old - the oldest in Vietnam today.

The school has a strong French architectural style, is the place where many important historical events of the capital took place, and was recognized as a historical and cultural relic since 2004. In 1995, together with Hue National School and Le Hong Phong High School (HCMC), Chu Van An School became one of the three national key high schools.

Currently, Chu Van An High School is one of two public high schools with specialized classes in Hanoi, along with Son Tay High School. Each year, the school enrolls about 500 students, and is always in the group with the highest competition rate and entrance score in the city.
