The cold spell in Hanoi and the North is forecast to "temporarily retreat" from tomorrow, December 27, then there will be a new cold spell on January 5.
Early in the morning of December 26, several smartphone apps showed that the temperature in Hanoi had suddenly dropped very low compared to previous days.
On the top of Fansipan tourist area (Sa Pa - Lao Cai) from last night (around 8pm) to this morning, a sudden frost phenomenon occurred, due to the temperature below 0 degrees Celsius combined with humidity in the air.
The temperature in Hanoi was warned on the European Windy website to be 9 degrees Celsius (updated at 3:00 a.m. on December 26). The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the temperature in Ha Dong (Hanoi) at 6:00 a.m. on December 26 was 10 degrees Celsius.
Other places also have low temperatures such as Cao Bang City: 6 o C, Bac Kan City: 6.5 o C, Lang Son City: 8.4 o C. In Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, the temperatures are also very low: 12.2 - 12.4 o C.
Informing SGGP Newspaper reporters, Ms. Lu Trang, an officer of the Meteorological and Hydrological Station of Thanh Hoa province, said that the lowest temperature on the morning of December 26 in Quan Hoa (Thanh Hoa) was 7.9 degrees Celsius. "Other measuring points were only 10 to 11.6 degrees Celsius such as Tho Xuan, Nghi Son, Thanh Hoa City," Ms. Trang informed.
In Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh on the morning of December 26, the temperature also suddenly and simultaneously dropped to 21.4 degrees Celsius. This is also the lowest temperature in the Southern region during this cold air mass.
According to meteorological experts, as of December 26, the cold spell in the North has lasted for 11 consecutive days. It is forecasted that from December 27, the temperature will continue to increase. From now until January 1, 2024, there will be no sign of rain in Hanoi. Around January 5, there will be a new cold spell.
