Hanoi has 6 students participating in the 2024 International Junior Science Olympiad

The 2024 International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) will take place from December 2 to 12 in Romania. The Hanoi team representing Vietnam at the competition has 6 members.


On the afternoon of November 27, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training met with a team of students preparing to leave for the 2024 International Junior Science Olympiad.

The Hanoi team represents Vietnam in this competition with 6 members, including 3 students from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, 1 student from Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted and 2 students from Newton Secondary - High School.

These are the most outstanding faces selected from more than 200 students of high schools who participated in the selection exam for the team to participate in the International Youth Science Olympiad organized by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.

To prepare for the exam, the team had 2 months of focused training and coaching with the teachers in charge of the team.

This year’s International Junior Science Olympiad took place from December 2 to 12 in Romania, with the participation of students from 56 countries and territories. Each national team had 6 students. The students took the exam for 240 minutes with questions from 3 main areas: Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

For many years, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has been entrusted by the Ministry of Education and Training and the City People's Committee with the task of selecting and establishing student delegations to participate in the IJSO exam and have achieved excellent results, contributing to affirming the quality and prestige of Vietnam's leading education to other countries.

Through the years of participating in the competition (from 2007 to 2023), the IJSO Hanoi team, representing Vietnam, has always achieved high results with a total of 77 medals, including 16 Gold Medals.

Recognizing and praising the efforts and results of the capital's students in participating in national and international competitions in recent years, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong affirmed that with the attention of the city's leaders, schools, and the support of parents, Hanoi's education has increasingly achieved many high achievements.

With serious, thoughtful and comprehensive preparation, Mr. Cuong believes that the team participating in this year's International Youth Science Olympiad will successfully complete their tasks and achieve many proud results.
