“Traders come to the plantation to buy acacia wood at a high price and they harvest it themselves. This time, I earned more than 100 million VND from selling hybrid acacia trees. Thanks to the money from selling acacia, I can pay for my children’s education and support my family,” said Mr. Dinh Van Cu happily.

Mr. Dinh Van Ec (village 8, An Trung commune, An Lao district, Binh Dinh province) planted more than 10 hectares of acacia trees, said: Within 5 years of planting, each hectare of acacia hybrid exploited brought an income of more than 80 million VND/year. Compared to many other crops, acacia trees are easy to care for, bringing a stable income.

According to many acacia farmers, acacia trees planted 4 years old are purchased by traders at 70 - 80 million VND/ha; acacia forests from 4.5 - 5 years old cost about 100 million VND/ha. Acacia trees 10 years old or older have higher economic value due to the quality of the wood.

An Lao District (Binh Dinh Province) currently has more than 22,000 hectares of raw material forests. Each year, the locality exploits about 2,500 hectares of hybrid acacia forests at a price of 60 - 80 million VND/ha, with a total value of about 175 - 200 billion VND.
