Judges of the Ho Chi Minh City Drama Festival came to each stage to watch with the audience.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Bac, Director of the Department of Performing Arts; Ms. Trinh Thuy Mui, President of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association; Mr. Tran The Thuan, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports. The festival's jury included People's Artist Tran Minh Ngoc, People's Artist Giang Manh Ha, People's Artist Le Khanh, People's Artist Trung Hieu, Meritorious Artist Ca Le Hong, Meritorious Artist Cong Ninh and author Nguyen Thu Phuong.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Mr. Tran The Thuan, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the first Ho Chi Minh City Drama Festival took place in the context of the city's drama scene undergoing a clear transformation but still facing certain challenges in terms of investment and human resources. He emphasized that the festival is an opportunity for theater units to compete and mature in a professional competition.

There were 25 plays participating in the competition, with more than 300 artists. At the ceremony, there were re-enactments of two excerpts from the plays Da co hoai lang and Cong ly nhu mat troi by the Small Stage 5B Drama Theater, which are also two of the plays with lasting vitality on the Ho Chi Minh City stage. Many representatives of the stages such as People's Artist My Uyen, Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc, Meritorious Artist Vu Xuan Trang and her husband... attended, in which People's Artist My Uyen played a role in the excerpt Cong ly nhu mat troi .

As a region with very dynamic and diverse theatrical activities, for the first time, Ho Chi Minh City has its own true theatrical festival. Previously, the city had an Autumn Theatre Festival, but it was not too heavy on the competition format, mainly focusing on fun exchanges. What is special about this festival season is that the judges will come to each theater unit to watch the competing plays with the audience.
