Director of Bach Mai Hospital concurrently holds the position of Vice Principal of University of Medicine and Pharmacy

Today, November 20, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (hereinafter referred to as the University of Medicine and Pharmacy) announced the decision of the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi to appoint Associate Professor Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, to concurrently hold the position of Vice Rector of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Previously, on November 15, the Ministry of Health also issued Official Dispatch No. 7418/BYT-TCCB approving Mr. Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, to concurrently hold the position of Vice Rector of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Associate Professor Dao Xuan Co was born in 1972, graduated from Hanoi Medical University in 1996, majoring in internal medicine and pediatrics, then studied for a master's degree in emergency resuscitation and a doctorate in anesthesia and resuscitation. Before being appointed as Director of Bach Mai Hospital (March 2022), Associate Professor Co was Head of the Department of Intensive Care and Deputy Director in charge of professional matters at Bach Mai Hospital.

Also at today's event, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy officially launched its Board of Directors (after 3 years of establishment), and announced the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine. Accordingly, the Board of Directors of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy currently has 5 members, 1 principal and 4 vice principals. The principal is Professor Le Ngoc Thanh. Vice principals include Associate Professor Pham Nhu Hai, Professor Nguyen Thanh Hai, Associate Professor Trinh Hoang Ha (Director of Hanoi National University Hospital and interim Vice Principal), Associate Professor Dao Xuan Co.

According to Professor Le Ngoc Thanh, the introduction of the Board of Directors, especially the announcement of the decision to appoint Associate Professor Dao Xuan Co, is a particularly important milestone demonstrating the correct policy on the institutional relationship between the institute and the school at a new level. This will further consolidate and perfect the tasks of management, orientation, and planning of long-term plans and strategies of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy; contributing to the completion of the mission, vision, and core values ​​of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the development strategy of Hanoi National University until 2030 and vision to 2045.

According to Professor Thanh, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy has more than 300 permanent lecturers, many of whom are people's doctors, excellent doctors, people's teachers, excellent teachers, leading experts in the fields of medicine, pharmacy, and managers currently working at prestigious facilities of central hospitals, pharmaceutical enterprises, etc.

"Thanks to such an elite team, the school has continuously grown in all aspects, training and providing hundreds of highly qualified medical personnel for the country. From having only a few hundred students, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy has now increased its undergraduate and graduate enrollment to nearly 1,000 students/year," Professor Thanh shared.

The University of Medicine and Pharmacy is a member university of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, established by the Prime Minister under Decision 1666/QD-TTg dated October 27, 2020 on the basis of inheriting the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy (established in May 2010). In addition to the newly established Faculty of Medicine (with 39 departments), the University of Medicine and Pharmacy also has the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Dentistry.
