(GLO)- The Department of Natural Resources and Environment has just issued Official Dispatch No. 1864/STNMT-CCBVMT on organizing activities in response to World Environment Day and World Oceans Day in 2023.

Accordingly, for World Environment Day, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment requests the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and provincial political and social organizations; provincial departments, branches and sectors and People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to focus on disseminating the Law on Environmental Protection 2020, the movement against plastic waste; mechanisms, policies and laws on environmental protection; organizing rallies, launching campaigns to clean up the environment, plant trees, collect and treat waste; promote the collection, recycling and reuse of hard-to-decompose plastic bags and disposable plastic products; replicate effective models in organizing the collection, classification and treatment of household waste and plastic waste at the source. At the same time, discover, commend and reward organizations, individuals and communities, businesses with outstanding achievements and initiatives in environmental protection activities; especially solutions and initiatives to reduce plastic waste...
For World Oceans Day, Vietnam Sea and Islands Week focuses on disseminating the Party's viewpoints and policies, the State's policies and laws, international laws on seas and islands; Vietnam's legitimate and legal rights and interests at sea; the position, role and importance of seas, islands and oceans; of marine and island resources and environment in sustainable development; hanging banners, billboards, posters on the theme of Vietnam Sea and Islands Week and World Oceans Day 2023; launching community movements, launching environmental sanitation, collecting and treating waste, not discharging plastic waste into the environment; strengthening control of the collection, transportation and treatment of waste and plastic waste in the area, especially along rivers and lakes...
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment also requested media agencies, newspapers, radio and television stations to increase the time and frequency of propaganda activities in response to World Environment Day, World Oceans Day 2023 and Vietnam Sea and Islands Week. In particular, propaganda of typical advanced examples in environmental protection activities, protection of sea and island sovereignty; discovery, and timely commendation and honor of organizations, individuals, communities and businesses with effective and practical contributions to the rational use of resources and protection of the marine and island environment.
