Speaking at the event, Mr. Vu Quoc Huy - Director of NIC emphasized that Vietnam is facing an important opportunity to participate more deeply in the global semiconductor value chain. "Today's program marks an important step in realizing the commitment to cooperation between the two countries in this strategic technology field," said Mr. Huy.

Mr. Nguyen Vinh Quang, FPT Corporation committed that the corporation will continue to expand cooperation and promote innovation to enhance Vietnam's position on the world semiconductor map.

Within the framework of the program, Mr. Nguyen Vinh Quang - Director of FPT Semiconductor, FPT Corporation gave an important speech with the topic "Japan - Vietnam: Natural allies in the semiconductor industry". The presentation focused on three main contents: Potential and opportunities of Vietnam's semiconductor industry; FPT's role in promoting the semiconductor ecosystem; Strategic cooperation with Japan for sustainable development; especially emphasizing FPT's role in connecting and promoting the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Vinh Quang emphasized that the strategic cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Japan is a natural ally in the semiconductor industry, and introduced the initiative to establish two alliances to realize and promote this natural alliance:

“The No. 1 alliance is the Education alliance, focusing on promoting the training of high-quality semiconductor human resources for both countries. FPT is honored to accompany the Vietnamese government to realize the goal of training 50,000 high-quality semiconductor engineers by 2030, through the strong implementation of training activities such as: opening Co-Innovation Spaces in Hanoi and Da Nang, establishing the Semiconductor Microchip Faculty at FPT University & recruiting 1,000 students in the first year.

Alliance No. 2 is the Production Chain Alliance to ensure that the production chain is not disrupted, while developing technology and gradually participating deeply in the semiconductor value chain for both Vietnam and Japan. We believe that with the support of the Kyushu regional government - Japan's "Silicon Island", this alliance will create momentum to promote the Vietnamese semiconductor industry, aiming to perfect the chip packaging and testing process right in Vietnam and open a new era in cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in the high-tech field."

Vietnam-Japan cooperation is a natural ally in the semiconductor industry

Mr. Quang shared that Japan is not only a leading power in the semiconductor industry but also a strategic partner that can help Vietnam improve its capacity in this field. He emphasized: “Vietnam has great potential to develop the semiconductor industry, with a team of young, enthusiastic and capable engineers. However, to really make a breakthrough, we need close cooperation with countries with advanced semiconductor industries like Japan.”

FPT is currently playing a pioneering role in developing the semiconductor ecosystem in Vietnam. Mr. Quang said that the company not only focuses on microchip design but also actively expands cooperation with international partners, especially Japan, in areas such as human resource training, research and development (R&D), as well as chip manufacturing projects to serve domestic and international needs.

Faced with challenges facing the global semiconductor industry, including supply chain disruptions and technological competition, Vietnam and Japan have the opportunity to deepen cooperation to create stability and sustainable development for the regional semiconductor value chain. Mr. Quang emphasized that support from Japanese enterprises and organizations will help Vietnam quickly improve its capacity, gradually building a solid semiconductor industry.

In particular, Japan is currently stepping up investment in semiconductor manufacturing centers in Kyushu and Hokkaido, opening up many opportunities for cooperation with Vietnamese enterprises. This not only helps Vietnam integrate more deeply into the global supply chain but also lays the foundation for the long-term development of this strategic industry.

With a long-term vision, FPT is committed to continuing to expand cooperation, promote innovation and contribute to enhancing Vietnam's position on the world semiconductor map. "We believe that, with the support of strategic partners such as Japan, the Vietnamese semiconductor industry will make steady progress, not only contributing to economic development but also helping Vietnam become an important link in the global semiconductor value chain," Mr. Quang affirmed.
