On the evening of November 13, the TikTok channel of the International Football Federation (FIFA) posted a video interviewing Van Quyet. The organization posted a simple status: “ Proud of Nguyen Van Quyet ”, with a football icon and the Vietnamese flag.
In the final part of the video, FIFA mentioned Van Quyet's important milestone. In the match against Hai Phong in round 7 of V.League 2024/2025, Nguyen Van Quyet scored a goal and officially became the greatest domestic striker in the history of the tournament with 117 goals. FIFA left a comment: " Proud of Van Quyet, proud of Vietnamese football ".
Nguyen Van Quyet achieved many memorable milestones in his career.
Nguyen Van Quyet expressed in the video: " Van Quyet just wants football as well as Vietnam to develop more and more and reach the world more. Most importantly, in the future, my children, everyone will see me and many teammates as professional players, playing with the highest spirit.
To say that developing Vietnamese football compared to the world, I dare not compare, but I hope the next generation will be proud of Van Quyet, proud of Vietnamese football .
At the club level, Nguyen Van Quyet scored 117 goals in 288 matches in the V.League. Van Quyet scored in 15 consecutive seasons playing in the V.League. He won the V.League championship 5 times, the National Cup 3 times and the National Super Cup 5 times. The striker born in 1991 was the best player of the V.League 3 times, won the Golden Ball 2 times, and won the Vietnamese Silver Ball 2 times.
Van Quyet played 60 matches and scored 16 goals for the Vietnam national team. Van Quyet participated in 5 AFF Cups and won the championship in 2018. At many times, he was the captain of the national team. Van Quyet was called back by coach Kim Sang-sik after nearly 1 year of absence.
At the end of October 2024, Nguyen Van Quyet announced his decision to retire from the national team, much to the surprise of fans. The 33-year-old player actually played very well when he was brought on as a substitute in the match against India.
