Vietnam team is the number 1 seed in the final qualifying round of Asian Cup 2027

This was a predicted result, after the Vietnamese team rose 3 places to 116th in the world and 21st in Asia on the FIFA rankings in November 2024. Accordingly, the rankings of the teams will be the basis for AFC to classify seeds for the draw to divide the groups in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

List of 24 teams participating in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup

In Group 1 with the Vietnamese team are the following teams: Syria, Thailand, Tajikistan, Lebanon and India. In the Southeast Asian region, except for Indonesia, which won a direct ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup Finals without having to participate in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup thanks to its achievement in the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup, the other teams participating in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup include: Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Brunei and Timor Leste. Of which, Malaysia and Philippines are in Group 2, Singapore and Myanmar are in Group 3, Brunei, Laos and Timor Leste are in Group 4.

The draw for the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup will be held on December 9. The 24 teams will be divided into 6 groups of 4 teams each, playing in a round-robin format at home and away from March 25 to March 31, 2025. The top teams in each group (6 teams) will qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup finals hosted by Saudi Arabia.

Vietnam team is in seed group number 1

Up to now, the 2027 Asian Cup has determined 18 participating teams. These are the teams that have entered the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia, including: Saudi Arabia, Australia, Iraq, Iran, Uzbekistan, Qatar, UAE, Japan, South Korea, Oman, Palestine, Bahrain, Jordan, China, Indonesia, DPRK, Kuwait and Kyrgyzstan.

In the last two Asian Cups (2019 and 2023), the Vietnamese team won tickets to participate. The most outstanding achievement was reaching the quarter-finals at the 2019 Asian Cup.
