Vietnam women's team promises to follow tactics in match against Netherlands

"Coach Mai Duc Chung and the coaching staff reminded the whole team to temporarily forget the previous matches to focus on the next match. My teammates and I will follow the tactics set out by the coaching staff and try to play better in the match against the Netherlands women's team," midfielder Ngan Thi Van Su said before the training session of the Vietnamese women's team.

Vietnam Women's Team 0-2 Portugal

In the match against Portugal, due to their desire to make a mark at the World Cup, the Vietnamese women's team lost their composure and failed to maintain tactical discipline in the first half. Taking advantage of this time, the Portuguese team scored 2 goals. After that, Huynh Nhu and her teammates refocused and played better but could not turn the situation around.

In the final match, the Vietnamese women's team will face the Netherlands. The confrontation with the current world runner-up is also the farewell of coach Mai Duc Chung and his team at the 2023 Women's World Cup. The players, especially those who did not get much playing time in the previous two matches, are all working hard to be given the opportunity to compete.

“If you practice hard, the coaching staff will see and trust you and give you a chance. The coaching staff also creates conditions for young athletes ,” midfielder Ngan Thi Van Su said.

“If given the opportunity, I will try harder. From the past matches, I have also learned a lot for myself, if I cannot hold the ball for long, I will be pressed by the opposing team and can easily lead to injury. In those situations, I will try to pass the ball back and forth, coordinate better with my teammates. The whole team will try because everyone expects to play and contribute for the flag and the shirt.

Attending the Women's World Cup is a great honor. Not only me, but in general, the Vietnamese women's team are small girls but their spirit, solidarity and fighting belief are always very great."

The Vietnamese women's team will meet the Netherlands at 2 p.m. on August 1. Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team are certain to be eliminated as they have not won any points or scored any goals after the first two matches. Meanwhile, the Netherlands has the same 4 points as the US team and needs to win or draw to secure their place in the next round.
