At the 2023 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship in Vinh Phuc, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team defeated the Iranian representative with a close score of 3-2. However, in the rematch at the 2023 AVC Challenge Cup, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team defeated their opponent more convincingly with a score of 3-0, with scores of 25-10, 25-9 and 25-19 respectively.
Right in the first game, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team started the game very well. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team scored 5 points in a row to lead the Iranian women's volleyball team 5-0. It can be seen that the Iranian women's volleyball team did not defend well in the first half of game 1. This caused the Vietnamese women's volleyball team to score many points from drop shots at the net. In addition, the West Asian team also made many serving errors, when the serve went out and did not go over the net.
In the overwhelming match of the Vietnamese girls, the main striker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy was still the impressive player with strong finishing situations and delicate drop shots. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team continuously led their opponents by a large margin, from 14-6, 20-10... before ending the first set with a score of 25-10.
Thanh Thuy (3) continued to play excellently to help the Vietnamese women's volleyball team convincingly defeat the Iranian team.
In the second game, the Iranian women's volleyball team strengthened their spirit and caused many difficulties for the Vietnamese team in the early stages. But the best the West Asian representative team could do was to lead the Vietnamese team 4-1. After that, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team leveled the score and then raced to the finish line, winning by an even bigger margin than the first game, 25-9.
The third game was the game in which the Iranian women's volleyball team scored the most points (equal to the total of the previous two games) in the match against the Vietnamese team. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet replaced the main striker Thanh Thuy on the field to give the opportunity to young talent Nhu Quynh. Therefore, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team encountered some difficulties when they continuously let their opponents gain points. Although they did not have the strongest hitter on the field, the Vietnamese girls still maintained the gap and won 25-19 in the third game.
Thus, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has won a ticket to the semi-finals of the AVC Challenge Cup 2023. At 2:00 p.m. tomorrow (June 22), coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team will face the Taiwanese women's volleyball team. This is the match that will decide who the Vietnamese girls will face in the semi-finals.
