Facing the stronger Korean team, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team showed excellent performance and won a dramatic victory.
In the first set, the Korean team asserted their dominance with powerful and tricky serves. However, the Vietnamese team showed improvement in their first-step receiving. The match was a stalemate before the Korean team closed the score at 25-22.
In the second half, the Korean team played better. Striker Kang So Hwi scored consecutively, making the Vietnamese team's efforts to catch up in the first half meaningless. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team lost 19-25.
Thanh Thuy and her teammates came from behind to beat the Korean team.
At this point, fans no longer had much hope for the Vietnamese team. But when cornered, the girls in blue rose up strongly. Thanh Thuy and her teammates had a tense match before ending the match with a score of 25-23.
Continuing the momentum, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team defeated their opponents in the fourth set with a score of 25-17. In the deciding set, the Vietnamese team fed Thanh Thuy the ball at the net. This spiker did not disappoint the fans as she scored consecutive points, thereby helping the Vietnamese team win 15-13.
With a thrilling 3-2 victory, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has a great chance of advancing to the second round. In the remaining two matches of the group stage, the team will only have to face weaker opponents, Taiwan (China) and Uzbekistan. The goal of the Vietnamese team is to enter the top 4 of the tournament.
