To celebrate the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2023), in order to create a fun and healthy playground and create solidarity for the team of journalists in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association in coordination with the Sports Reporters Club continues to organize a football tournament (men's and women's) for reporters, editors, officers and employees of central and local newspapers and radio stations in the city.
The tournament starts from June 25 to July 8 at Tao Dan Stadium with 14 men's teams divided into 4 groups: defending champions Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV), Ho Chi Minh City People's Voice (VOH), SCTV Television, Voice of Vietnam (VOV) Alliance (Group A); Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper , Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper and Vietnam News Agency (Group B); Social and Life Reporters Club, FPT Play and Saigon Economic Magazine (Group C); Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper , Zing News and Thanh Nien Newspaper (Group D).

The teams will compete in a round-robin format in three sessions on June 25, June 27 and June 29, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the quarter-finals on July 1. The semi-finals will take place on July 3 and the finals on July 8. Meanwhile, in the women's tournament, the strong contender HTV is absent, so there are only three teams left: Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper and Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper. They will compete in a round-robin format to determine rankings on June 25, June 29 and July 3. The top two teams will then compete in the finals on July 8. The group stage matches will not end in a draw. If there is a draw, there will be a 6-meter penalty shootout (5 kicks /team). The winning team in the match (3 points), winning the penalty shootout (2 points), losing the penalty shootout (1 point), losing the match (0 points).

The Thanh Nien Newspaper football team participating this time will have many changes when only 1/3 of the team will be old players such as goalkeeper Luu Cong Nguyen, midfielder Pham Minh Phuoc, strikers Nguyen Van Binh and Cao Ngoc Duong, defender Nguyen Thanh Long. There will be many new factors such as Thach Van Trinh, Vu Quoc Doan, Nguyen Minh Luan, Mai Thanh Nguyen, Tran Duy Khanh, all of whom are reporters and editors of the Social Political Department, the Center for Digital Content Production and Development.
Team manager Nguyen Khac Dinh commented: "The rejuvenation of course needs time to be confirmed, but we hope that the new resources will promise to bring new vitality to the Thanh Nien Newspaper football team after several seasons of falling behind. The determination of the whole team is to strive to go as deep as possible in the tournament, trying to regain the old glory when the Thanh Nien Newspaper team won the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association Championship in 2017 and 2018."

On the opening day of June 25, the Thanh Nien Newspaper team will play the first match against the Zing News team at 9:15 a.m., then, depending on the results, will play the Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper team on June 27 or 29. The prize for the winning team is the Thai Son Nam Cup, a gold medal and 10 million VND, second place 5 million VND and third place 3 million VND, style 2 million VND and many individual prizes worth 1 million VND. The women's championship prize is 4 million VND, second place 2 million VND and third place 1 million VND along with prizes for top scorer, best goalkeeper and beauty queen worth 1 million VND.
