On August 16, the working delegation of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control led by Mr. Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, had a working session to inspect the work of natural disaster prevention and control (PCTT) in our province. Mr. Le Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of relevant departments and branches received and worked with the delegation.

According to the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue (PCTT&TKCN), in order to develop and implement the PCTT plan for the period of 2021-2025 and 2023, the Provincial People's Committee has issued many directive documents; reviewed, improved and enhanced the capacity of the state management agency system on PCTT, and proposed response plans corresponding to the level of natural disaster risks in the area. Communication activities, dissemination of laws, and raising public awareness of PCTT have been given attention and focus. With the motto "4 on-site", every year, the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue has assigned enterprises to prepare sand collection sites, 5,000 m3 of rubble, and stored more than 1,200 steel cages in warehouses to serve disaster response work; and arranged forces, materials, and means to respond when bridges and roads are damaged. Disaster recovery and reconstruction work, and accommodation arrangements for resettlement in disaster areas are carried out safely.

Comrade Le Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee spoke at the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said: In recent years, due to the increasingly severe impact of climate change, the locality is often affected by many types of natural disasters. Determining that disaster prevention and control work is considered a regular and important task, the province has always proactively developed plans and response scenarios that are close to the local reality; thereby, basically minimizing damage to people and property caused by natural disasters. However, due to the diverse terrain and population distribution, especially in remote areas with fragmented terrain, limited resources and human resources, disaster prevention and control work still faces certain difficulties. In order to effectively implement disaster prevention and control and search and rescue in 2023 and the following years, he proposed that the Working Group propose to the central ministries and branches to pay attention to supporting investment funding, repairing and upgrading disaster prevention and control works and implementing the Project to raise awareness and manage community-based disaster risks.

After listening to the province's report and the contributions of the members of the working delegation, Comrade Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, acknowledged and highly appreciated the plans and solutions for disaster prevention and control that the province has implemented in the past time. He hoped that the province would continue to review and develop response measures suitable for the province's locality; focus on information and propaganda to raise people's awareness of natural disasters; consolidate and perfect the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue from the provincial to grassroots levels with sufficient numbers and capacity in command and management, and organize timely response to handle bad situations that may occur. Strengthen the capacity of the search and rescue force; apply information technology, invest in specialized equipment and support tools to effectively respond; at the same time, quickly overcome the consequences after rain and floods; Flexibility in integrating and allocating funding for the construction of infrastructure projects to respond to natural disasters... Regarding the province's recommendations, the delegation will synthesize and transfer them to relevant ministries and branches for consideration and timely resolution.
