Due to the impact of the circulation of storm No. 3 causing heavy rain, along with water from upstream causing landslides on the banks of the Red River in some localities in Lam Thao district, in that situation, on the morning of September 9, the working group of the District People's Committee went to inspect the situation and directed the initial handling plan.

The delegation inspected the Vinh Mo drainage area, Cao Xa commune; the Le Tinh pumping station drainage area, Vinh Lai commune; checked the water level of the Red River and some areas of landslides and dike corridors in Ban Nguyen and Phung Nguyen communes, Lam Thao town and Xuan Huy commune.

According to preliminary reports, the water level of the Red River through the district has risen by more than 2m, along the dikes, many cracks and subsidence have appeared along the river banks. Due to complicated weather conditions and prolonged heavy rain, the rate of landslides and subsidence continues to occur, threatening the safety of the area and potentially affecting the property and safety of households around the area.

Through inspection, the leaders of the district People's Committee requested the district's specialized departments and agencies to coordinate with localities, strengthen the organization of on-duty teams, closely monitor the landslide developments, and have plans to ensure absolute safety for people's lives and property. Some measures such as posting warning signs in dangerous landslide areas and building barriers have been deployed.

At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen patrols and resolutely not let people and vehicles near the landslide area. It is recommended that the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development have a plan to ensure the safety of the dike.
