According to statistics from the Ha Nam Provincial Police, from the beginning of 2024 to now, nearly 30 cases of property theft have occurred in the province. In fact, from the cases, thieves often carefully observe the location where they intend to break in, find the right time, and take advantage of the negligence of the homeowner or the security force of the agency or business to commit the crime.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hung Sau - Deputy Head of the Criminal Police Department, Ha Nam Provincial Police, discussed this type of crime and said: The methods of property theft by the subjects are not new, but due to subjectivity, negligence, and lack of vigilance in protecting people's property, it has created conditions for the subjects to commit crimes.

Most burglaries usually occur at night and early morning. The subjects use sophisticated methods and tricks, showing signs of professional activity, such as: Using clothes, hats, masks, gloves and sneakers to avoid identification, often going alone, moving on the streets to monitor, detect houses where no one is home, the door is not locked, sleeping soundly; State agencies, businesses without security or with security but already asleep, then approach using pliers to cut, break the lock, use other tools to break the door or enter through the open door to steal property.

If discovered, they are ready to use weapons to escape or cover up clues.

The hot weather in the province is still prolonged, so to proactively prevent property theft crimes during the hot season, Ha Nam Provincial Police recommend that people, agencies and businesses raise their vigilance and do a good job of prevention.

Before going to bed, when leaving the house, close and lock the door carefully; ventilation holes must have protective bars; proactively install devices such as: alarm bells, security cameras, anti-theft "magic eyes".

For agencies, offices, businesses, schools, security forces should increase patrols and regular inspections, especially at noon or at night. When discovering information about suspected subjects stealing property or consuming stolen property, people should promptly notify local authorities or the nearest police agency.

In addition, the police of units and localities under the provincial police proactively coordinate with the media and local authorities to strengthen propaganda and guide people on how to manage and protect property.

Information on methods and tricks of criminal activities, especially new methods and tricks, to raise people's vigilance and awareness of self-protection of property. At the same time, promote the movement of the whole people to protect national security, and mobilize people to actively participate in denouncing crimes.

Advise and guide heads of agencies, businesses, and schools to arrange security forces to ensure safety; control people entering and leaving the agency; increase patrols and guards, especially at night, on holidays, Tet, and weekends to promptly prevent property theft crimes.

The police force seriously performs the task of receiving and handling denunciations and reports of crimes. Strengthens the work of grasping the situation, performs well the work of managing residence, focuses on investigating and verifying cases of property theft, and arrests criminals, thereby contributing to maintaining security and order in the area.
