(Dan Tri) - Completing 9 pedestrian bridges connecting Metro Station No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) is an important turning point, leading to the operation of the entire line by the end of this year.
Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board has completed the construction of 9 pedestrian bridges connecting to the stations of Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien). This is considered an important turning point, leading to the official operation of the entire line by the end of this year.
9 pedestrian bridges are built at the stations: Tan Cang, Thao Dien, An Phu, Rach Chiec, Phuoc Long, Binh Thai, Thu Duc, High-Tech Park and National University station, located along Hanoi Highway (Thu Duc City). The pedestrian bridges across Vo Nguyen Giap Street and Hanoi Highway are places with a lot of traffic, especially container trucks entering and exiting the nearby port area. Each pedestrian bridge is about 80-150m long (depending on location), designed in different shapes, suitable for the location of the station. In the photo is the pedestrian bridge across Thao Dien station, one of the longest pedestrian bridges out of 9 bridges on the entire route. In addition to the purpose of passenger traffic, the bridges are also designed to protect against sun and rain, provide natural ventilation, and increase open space. The pedestrian bridges are designed in the form of domes, with a deck width of 3.5m and a clearance (height from the ground to the deck) of nearly 5m. Although completed, the pedestrian bridge's entrances and exits remain barricaded until Metro Line 1 officially opens. These pedestrian bridges have one left side (from Saigon Bridge to Suoi Tien) connecting to the existing residential area, some points connecting in front of the commercial center. The other side connects to the station to help passengers cross Hanoi Highway. All pedestrian bridges connect to bus stops, enhancing passenger access to the station. The investor also designed motorbike parking lots at the entrances and exits of the pedestrian bridge to facilitate people taking the metro. The pedestrian bridge is also the main escape route in case of an emergency metro incident during operation. Metro Line 1 is the first urban railway line built in Ho Chi Minh City, 19.7km long, including 2.6km underground and 17.1km elevated. The total investment after adjustment is 43,700 billion VND. The project has a route passing through District 1, Binh Thanh, Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City) and Di An (Binh Duong). This line is expected to be officially put into commercial operation on December 22.
