On February 13, 2023, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 727 on the establishment of 5 wards: Dien Thang Bac, Dien Thang Trung, Dien Thang Nam, Dien Minh, Dien Phuong. To become wards, how to help people enjoy a better life must start with building urban civilization.
Young dynamic city
Dien Phuong, considered the birthplace of the national language, has the famous Thanh Chiem Citadel, located on the road connecting the two cultural heritages of Hoi An - My Son, has many potentials and strengths to develop tourism services.
In addition, Dien Phuong has traditional craft villages such as Phuoc Kieu bronze casting village, Phu Triem Quang rice paper and noodle village, Nguyen Van Tiep art wood carving village, Le Duc Ha terracotta village, Triem Tay split mats, Cau Mong roasted veal village...
In 2016, Dien Phuong was recognized as a new rural commune. This was a premise for Dien Phuong Party Committee to proactively develop plans, propagate and mobilize people to focus on economic, cultural and social development, ensuring the criteria for the commune to become a ward.
The locality has planned and built residential areas according to urban architecture, mobilized resources to invest in cultural, traffic and educational infrastructure works; focused on planning the ward center, traffic system, lighting, urban areas, public trees...
At the same time, Dien Phuong promotes economic restructuring, trade, tourism and service development to increase the proportion of non-agricultural labor.
In the project to upgrade communes to wards, many criteria on infrastructure, economic structure, education, cultural institutions, environment, etc. are carefully considered and evaluated.
Before being approved to become a ward or commune, the people's opinions were sought. The people wanted their quality of life to improve and their average income per capita to be higher than when they were still a commune.
Mr. Vo Me (Thanh Chiem 2 village, Dien Phuong) shared that when the commune became a ward, some other fees also increased such as garbage fees and tuition fees, but they were not significant and did not affect life much compared to the many conveniences that people enjoyed, so he happily encouraged his children and grandchildren to actively participate in movements to build the ward to meet urban civilization standards.
"The Party Committee, government and people of Dien Phuong are determined to build their hometown into a young, dynamic and creative urban area so that people can enjoy the fruits of their own labor" - said Mr. Dang Huu Tu - Secretary of the Dien Phuong Ward Party Committee.
Mr. Phan Minh Dung - Secretary of Dien Ban Town Party Committee said that in recent times, the Party Committee, government and people of Dien Ban town have focused on leading the overcoming of the limitations and shortcomings that have been pointed out in the past, in conjunction with strictly implementing the regulations of the central government, the province and the town Party Committee on Party building and rectification, and building a clean and strong political system.
Promoting the role, responsibility and synchronous and unified participation of each agency and organization in the political system at all levels, of cadres, party members and people, first of all the heads of Party committees and authorities to strengthen people's trust in the leadership of the Party. That is the thread that tightens the relationship between the Party and the people, creating a strong driving force to develop a rich, beautiful and civilized town.
Consensus on infrastructure improvement
Nguyen Thi Lac oil pressing facility (Bong Lai village) is located right on the main axis of the old National Highway 1 across Dien Minh ward.
According to Ms. Lac, the two-lane shared road used to be only 12.5m wide. When there was a plan to widen the road, although it was a business establishment, she and the local people complied and moved the fence and gate to allow the State to expand.
Thanks to the consensus of the people, the old road has now been renovated and upgraded with two lanes with a median strip planted with flowers and ornamental trees. Although the traffic is heavy, traffic accidents have been reduced. Even happier is that the road has a beautiful frontage leading to the town center, no longer feeling like a small, narrow town.
Commenting on the urban beautification process with the above model, Mr. Pham Hong Linh - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Head of the mass mobilization block of Dien Minh ward said: "It was also difficult to persuade people on both sides of this road to move the fence, gate, and hand over the site to the construction unit, because the frontage land, which has long been used by people to live and do business, now has to be moved back inside, with many houses of very small area. However, when listening to the explanation and persuasion, everyone agreed to hand over the site. It is truly a hundred times easier without the people to endure, and a thousand times harder with the people to handle it."
“Leave no one behind”
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Lien - Head of the Women's Association of Thanh Quyt 4 Block (Dien Thang Trung Ward) said that in the block there are many women in difficult circumstances. Every time the block organizes a ceremony, they have to rent ao dai to attend, so they rarely participate.
Understanding that, the association mobilized female members in the block to launch "Ao Dai Wardrobe Connecting Love" with the message "Whoever needs it, come get it, whoever has extra, give it away".
This model has created cohesion among women members in the block and commune, thereby attracting and gathering women members to participate in association activities, connecting love for the community, and joining hands to build stronger relationships between members and grassroots association officials.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nam Hai - President of Dien Ban Women's Union shared that in recent years, the union has launched many movements towards humanitarian work with the message "Leave no one behind", from the model of 1,000 Ao Dai for poor women, raising piggy banks, collecting plastic waste, women's groups far from home, breakfast sharing love...
This has created a warm relationship between association staff and each grassroots member, bringing them confidence and determination to rise up in life.
