(Cooperative) Hang Vinh - Nam Can Shrimp Crackers was established in 2019. After a long period of effort, by 2023, the cooperative had products recognized as 3-star OCOP . In order to strengthen trade promotion activities, introduce and promote product consumption, and at the same time to serve tourism and neighboring consumers, the district supported the cooperative with 100 million VND; together with counterpart funds, the cooperative has completed and put into operation the OCOP product introduction and sales point, including local specialties and typical rural industrial products. This is the first model supported by the district to diversify the forms of connection, consumption, market development and promotion, product introduction in a professional direction, providing quality products to consumers, especially potential customers.
Ms. Tran Thu Trang, Director of Hang Vinh - Nam Can Shrimp Crackers Cooperative, excitedly said: “In the 5 years of operation since its establishment, the Cooperative has received a lot of attention from the locality, sectors and levels. In particular, recently, the Cooperative has been supported with a Product Introduction and Sales Point, creating conditions for tourists from all over to come here to know about the local OCOP products, as well as the Cooperative. In the future, I will open a store, make a small production model inside so that customers can both buy products and experience the Cooperative's product making process.”
The OCOP product introduction and sales point of Hang Vinh Shrimp Crackers Cooperative - Nam Can has just been put into operation.
Mr. Tran Thanh Nghi, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nam Can district, said: "In 2024, the district recognized 7 more 3-star OCOP products of 5 entities, bringing the total number of 18 OCOP-recognized products of 8 entities to date, including 6 4-star products and 12 3-star products. These products belong to the food group, including: shrimp crackers, mantis shrimp crackers, crab crackers, taro crackers, banana crackers, ecological dried shrimp, ecological crab meat, ecological shrimp patties, ecological wild tiger prawns, ecological sea crabs, shrimp floss, sea crabs and refined bird's nest products...".

Accordingly, the entities are granted certificates, use the OCOP Program logo and star ratings shown on product packaging, and are supported to develop OCOP Program products according to current regulations. Currently, the entities continue to standardize products, overcome limitations, supplement and improve products to upgrade.
In addition, the district's functional sector also creates conditions for entities to participate in events held in the province and OCOP product development activities organized by ministries, branches and regions; effectively implements policies for entities participating in the OCOP Program, such as regularly coordinating with provincial departments and branches to support the printing of stamps, labels, logos for traceability of origin, and geographical indications on product packaging.
“For entities with products recognized as OCOP, the unit will continue to advise the District People's Committee to guide entities to properly implement product management regulations. In addition, it will coordinate with relevant departments and branches to encourage entities to continue to expand production scale, improve product quality to meet market demand, and at the same time create conditions for higher star rating and classification,” Mr. Tran Thanh Nghi added.
In 2025, the district will continue to promote and train to raise awareness for management staff and staff at all levels about the OCOP Program, on the basis of integrating propaganda in many forms so that people know, understand and participate synchronously. In particular, put the content of OCOP product development into action programs and plans in sectors and localities, considering this a key task for regular and long-term implementation. The district's goal is to develop 12 new products, and at the same time upgrade 6 products from 3 stars to 4 stars, from 4 stars to 5 stars, of which 1-2 products will reach 5-star standards.
