Tra Vinh University attends International Conference on Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development

Recently, lecturers and researchers from Tra Vinh University participated in an online report at the 5th International Conference on Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development, 2024. This conference was held in Tacloban City, Southern Leyte Province, Philippines with the participation of 110 researchers from many countries around the world.

The lecturers who reported at the Conference were representatives of research groups on community development support projects, one of the tasks and strengths of Tra Vinh University.

A typical example is the research project on “Improving the efficiency of giant freshwater prawn farming in rice fields in the Mekong Delta” by a group of researchers from the Faculty of Agriculture and Aquaculture, chaired by Dr. Huynh Thi Kim Huong – Deputy Dean and reported by Dr. Le Truc Linh – Dean.

Because the climate change situation in Vietnam and the Philippines has many similarities and this model brings high economic efficiency, the report attracts the attention of many scientists in the field of aquaculture.

Master, Doctor Pham Tuan Huy, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Dentistry, representing the author group, reported on the research project " Assessing the situation of tooth decay and the effectiveness of oral care instructions for students at 17 primary schools in Tra Vinh City in 2024 ". The project received much attention because of its humanity and more than 8,000 students benefited from the project.

In addition, Tra Vinh University also has two studies on teaching English using the COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) model to exchange lecturers and students online and cross-observe English teachers in high schools, reported by Dr. Chau Thi Hoang Hoa, Head of Project Promotion Department and Ms. Nguyen Duong Thu Nguyet, Specialist of the International Training Institute.

It is known that this is the third time in 2024 that Tra Vinh University has co-organized international seminars and conferences on a combined online and in-person platform with the active participation of scientists and lecturers of the school.

This is a very useful academic and professional development activity that helps school faculty learn and share experiences with researchers in the region.
