TPO - To help look up information, easily locate each street and create a highlight for tourism development, the Hanoi Department of Transport has just proposed a pilot project to install QR codes on many streets in Hanoi's Old Quarter.
Regarding this, a representative of the Hanoi Department of Transport said that QR codes will be attached to street name signs along the streets.
QR codes are integrated into the database of street names, biographies of cultural celebrities named after streets, local landmarks, displaying geographic location, route, length, etc.

“Along with facilitating information lookup and street location, attaching QR codes to street names also creates additional tourism highlights, in line with the trend of using information technology, the policy of digital transformation and open applications to promote tourism, building Hoan Kiem district into a civilized, modern urban area, a key tourist destination... in line with current technology trends”, informed a representative of the Hanoi Department of Transport.
If the proposal is approved by the city, in the upcoming phase 1, 69 columns on 15 streets in Hanoi's Old Quarter that are currently in the walking space on weekends and 70 columns on 16 streets in the Hoan Kiem Lake area and vicinity will be equipped with QR codes.
