Ho Chi Minh City opened the scoring in the 15th minute after Hoang Vu Samson headed home from a corner kick from the right wing by Vo Huy Toan. The early goal helped the home team easily play defensive counter-attacks thanks to the good coordination of the trio Victor Mansaray, Daniel Green and Hoang Vu Samson.
The goal that doubled the gap came in the 43rd minute. Mansaray passed the ball to Daniel Green on the left wing before getting past Luong Duy Cuong. In Green's attempt to cross inside, the ball was taken by the outside of his left foot and hit the underside of the crossbar into the Da Nang net.
In the second half, Mansaray had a solo performance, passing Luong Duy Cuong and Ha Minh Tuan, then scored a simple goal. Losing 0-3, some Da Nang players could no longer keep their composure. In the 68th minute, witnessing Daniel Green skillfully dribbling past his teammates, Trong Nam took the initiative to foul and received a second yellow card, which meant a red card and he left the field.
Two minutes later, Green flicked the outside of his right foot into the penalty area for Samson to accurately place the ball to make it 4-0. Da Nang's efforts earned them an honorary goal in the 73rd minute thanks to Rodrigo Dias with a powerful free kick from about 20m. However, a minute later, Mansaray continued to punish the lack of concentration of the defense to make it 5-1.
Three full points helped Ho Chi Minh City FC rise to 12th place with seven points. Da Nang dropped to the bottom of the table with five points and no wins after 10 rounds.
