Teach children how to escape when the car is locked

Parents need to teach their children the necessary skills to escape when left alone in a car.

On May 29, at Hong Nhung 2 Kindergarten (in Phu Xuan commune, Thai Binh city), a serious incident occurred, causing a child to die after being forgotten on the school's shuttle bus.

To avoid such heartbreaking incidents, parents need to teach their children the necessary skills to escape when left alone in the car, such as: staying calm to observe and find a way to escape, opening the car door from the driver's seat, continuously honking the steering wheel horn, pressing the Hazard lights - emergency lights...

First, children need to be trained in the skill of staying calm. When children find themselves locked in a car, they can easily panic; this is a natural reaction even for adults, so it is necessary to help children practice escape skills proficiently, and watch many illustrations to stay calm in emergency situations.

Second, depending on the vehicle, show your child the door opening button (usually shaped like an open and closed lock) on the side of the driver's seat or the red button right on the door handles.

Just press the open padlock button or the red button (if the car door is not in child lock mode), then pull the door handle outward and push it to open the door.

Third, according to the manufacturer's safety design, the car horn always works even when the car is turned off or the doors are locked from the outside. Therefore, teach young children to honk the horn on the steering wheel continuously as a way to signal for help.

If the child is too young and has weak hand strength, you can instruct the child to turn around, sit in the middle of the steering wheel to honk the horn.

Fourth, show your child where the red triangle emergency light button is on the dashboard of your car. When your car turns on its emergency lights, it will attract the attention of people around you.

Finally, teach your child how to break a glass window with any sharp, hard-tipped object, such as pliers, screwdrivers, etc. Ideally, equip your car with a specialized hammer (currently priced at just over 100,000 VND, including seat belt cutting, flashlight, phone charger, etc.) and keep it in a visible, easy-to-reach location.

You should break the side or rear window, because the windshield is always the safest with many layers of adhesive with specialized glue, so it is the hardest to break.
