On October 19, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Do Duc Duy received and worked with the delegation of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen reported on some socio-economic features of the locality. In particular, the bauxite mining and exploration planning in Dak Nong covers an area of over 121,000 hectares, accounting for 18% of the province's natural area.

Bauxite is a widely distributed mineral. Bauxite planning covers local socio-economic development activities.
According to regulations, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is the competent authority to decide whether or not to exploit bauxite in areas with construction investment projects.
Currently, bauxite recovery is difficult due to the high cost of transporting it to the alumina processing plant. Meanwhile, bauxite recovery will cause many projects to have no land for site clearance.
Vice Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen said that after reviewing, there were 425 public investment projects in the locality that were stuck as above. Of these, there were 37 urgent and important projects that needed to be resolved.

For areas without bauxite, Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee proposed to allow land use purpose change to carry out works and projects.
For areas with bauxite, the province requests the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to give opinions on whether or not to reclaim bauxite and provide instructions for localities to implement.
In Dak Nong, 103/232 common construction material mines are located in the bauxite planning. Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee requested the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to find solutions for localities to be licensed to mine in areas without bauxite reserves and resources. In areas with bauxite, mining units are responsible for protecting them according to regulations.
Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee also proposed that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment have solutions to develop separate provisions in the Law on Geology and Minerals for bauxite; remove difficulties in earth mines for the implementation of the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway; adjust land allocation targets and make a number of other recommendations on land.

Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Do Duc Duy acknowledged the recommendations of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee. Recently, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has directed relevant units to coordinate with the province to provide guidance on a number of contents under its authority.
Regarding the difficulties and problems of Dak Nong, especially the problems related to bauxite, Minister Do Duc Duy said he will direct units to research and find solutions in accordance with regulations.
