On the morning of January 6, at the press conference to summarize the year 2024, Mr. Ho Van Muoi - Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee - said that the province is making efforts to remove bauxite obstacles to escape the difficult situation and develop the socio-economy.
Mr. Muoi said that in 2024, despite many difficulties, Dak Nong still strives to reduce poverty, the province's per capita income ranks second in the region at more than 81 million VND/person/year.
However, last year Dak Nong had some targets not met such as budget revenue, disbursement of public investment capital for projects due to lack of land for filling and bauxite planning problems.
"Last year, I and the provincial leaders had many meetings with leaders of ministries and the Government to try to remove obstacles in bauxite planning. This will be the driving force for Dak Nong to develop in 2025 and the following years," Mr. Muoi informed.
According to Mr. Muoi, in 2024, many large enterprises and corporations in Dak Nong registered to invest about 8 billion USD. Among them are 4 bauxite factories, with a total investment of about 1 billion USD/factory.

Regarding energy projects that are involved in bauxite planning and violate regulations according to the Government Inspectorate's conclusion, the province has reported at two meetings with the Prime Minister.
"The province is waiting for the conclusion of the authorities, but if it is resolved, the projects will be able to provide electricity for bauxite mining. The life cycle of wind power is only 25-30 years and each project's license is only granted for less than 50 years.
If 118 pillars x 300m2 /pillar, the construction area is less than 4ha of land. Investors are willing to buy the mineral reserves under these pillars or continue to exploit the bauxite around the wind power pillars," Mr. Muoi added.
It will take more than 700 years to exploit all of Dak Nong's bauxite reserves.
According to Mr. Muoi, the province currently has 1 Nhan Co alumina factory, with current reserves that would take 715 years to fully exploit.
Even if all four registered investment factories are approved, it will still take 300 years.
"We have violated planning, but bauxite is not lost and it is still potential. There needs to be a mechanism to fully exploit the potential of other projects," Mr. Muoi hopes.
