Hanoi National University "joins hands" with 2 leading universities in China

During the recent working trip to China, the delegation of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) led by Director Le Quan worked at Peking University and Tsinghua University, large and prestigious higher education institutions in China.

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Le Quan and Prof. Khuu Dung, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Council of Tsinghua University signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between VNU and Tsinghua University.

According to the memorandum of cooperation, in the coming time, VNU and Tsinghua University will cooperate in research; exchange lecturers and researchers, exchange students; coordinate the organization of seminars and academic conferences; exchange documents in education, research, publishing and academic information.

Professor Khuu Dung emphasized that cooperation between Tsinghua University and VNU will contribute to promoting scientific research, training and nurturing talents, not only as a matter of the two universities but more importantly, contributing to the development of high-quality human resources for the two countries.

He said that the fields of artificial intelligence and semiconductor technology are top priorities for Vietnam, China and many other countries in the world. Therefore, he also suggested that Tsinghua University and VNU focus on promoting cooperation in training high-quality human resources in these fields.

According to Professor Gong Qihuang, Director of Peking University, due to the impact of the Covid pandemic, direct exchange activities have been limited, but have opened up opportunities for online exchange, creating a new trend in educational development on digital platforms.

Professor Gong Qihuang invited VNU to join the international alliance of universities on digital intelligence education development to discuss the development direction of higher education institutions in the digital age.

Previously, on January 29, Prof. Dr. Le Quan, Director of VNU, had a working session with Prof. Khuu Dung in Hoa Lac. Prof. Khuu Dung and Prof. Le Quan discussed prospective areas of cooperation between the two universities such as artificial intelligence, social sciences and humanities, engineering technology, computer science, etc.

It is known that in 2007, VNU and Tsinghua University signed a cooperation agreement to provide scholarships for VNU postgraduate students. For master's degree (10,000 NDT/month - 12 months) and tuition exemption.

Students can apply for a second year of scholarship. For PhD (20,000 RMB/month-1 year). Students can apply for a third year of scholarship or part of the scholarship if their research results are good.

By 2010, the two universities had signed a cooperation agreement on student exchange. In 2019, VNU cooperated with the School of Finance, Tsinghua University (PBC School of Finance, Tsinghua University) to organize a training course for Tsinghua University staff and alumni - Tsinghua PBCSF Vietnam Navigating Program.
