On November 4-5, in Hoa Lac (Hanoi), Hanoi National University organized the 2023 Investment Promotion Conference. Considered a pioneering activity in the higher education sector on the public-private partnership model, this is the second time Hanoi National University has organized this conference, with the conference expected to become an annual activity.
What do businesses need from universities?
In the plenary session late this afternoon, November 4, Professor Le Quan, Director of Hanoi National University, said that the core tasks and missions of Hanoi National University are training, scientific research, technology transfer, and carrying out community missions.
In training, we focus on nurturing talents, training and supplying high-quality human resources as well as promoting science and technology activities to serve the socio-economic development. To carry out these tasks, Hanoi National University needs the support of businesses and organizations.

Hanoi National University is a training institution with great capacity and potential, with nearly 5,000 staff, nearly 3,000 scientists (including 600 associate professors, professors; more than 2,000 PhDs), receiving much investment from the State in research and training conditions.
Hanoi National University is not only a place to provide high-quality human resources, but also a place to connect businesses and localities with training and research units in Hanoi National University.
"Businesses come to the conference first and foremost because they are interested in human resource development. Businesses are very interested in cooperating to find solutions for training, fostering and supplying high-quality human resources domestically and internationally. Second, they need consulting to transfer science and technology," said Professor Le Quan.
Also according to Professor Le Quan, in the past year, the Center for Knowledge Transfer and Startup Support (Hanoi National University) organized many conferences, signed many consulting contracts with businesses. Thanks to that, Hanoi National University has capital to establish Hanoi National University Investment Joint Stock Company, creating a business mechanism for Hanoi National University to sign and implement activities in the coming time.
Establishment of joint research centre with RMIT University
Professor Le Quan also said that within the framework of the conference program, Hanoi National University opened a collaborative research center between Hanoi National University and RMIT University of Australia (VNU - RMIT Innovation Hub).
In this partnership, VNU Hanoi provides human resources and infrastructure (with an area of nearly 1,000 m2 including modern office areas and facilities). RMIT invests 10 million AUD in equipment investment and joint research.

The VNU - RMIT Innovation Hub was established with the aim of serving postgraduate education, training high-quality human resources, innovation and supporting cooperation between Hanoi National University, RMIT with domestic and international corporations and enterprises, not only in the field of digital technology but also contributing to solving science and technology problems of enterprises in essential areas of life, economy and society such as: new materials, semiconductor technology, renewable energy, artificial intelligence...
In the coming time, the VNU - RMIT Innovation Hub will serve the training of highly qualified human resources at doctoral and post-doctoral levels; be a place for Hanoi National University and RMIT University, together with Vietnamese and Australian enterprises, to coordinate in organizing conferences, scientific seminars, in-depth academic exchange activities, etc.
