Durian has brought joy to farmers in Da Huoai district when they have a stable income and are rich. Since the 1920s, when the French chose this land for experimental planting, up to now, the southern gateway has a durian area of more than 5,580 hectares. By the end of 2022, the whole district has 3,250 hectares applying science and technology, intensive cultivation with high productivity. The durian area for harvest is over 3,500 hectares, durian output is approximately 40,000 tons. Coming to Da Huoai, it can be affirmed that just going to the garden is to meet a durian billionaire. Mr. Hoang Thanh Nam - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Da Huoai district said that this year's durian crop, the locality has more than 800 households with billions of dong in income from this crop.
According to the goal of Da Huoai District Party Committee in implementing the thematic Resolution on "Promoting the application of science and technology in agricultural production, improving the competitiveness of local key agricultural products in the period of 2021 - 2025" and Resolution No. 28/NQ-HDND dated December 15, 2022 of the 11th term Da Huoai District People's Council, 8th session on socio-economic development tasks in 2023, for durian, by 2025, strive for 1,500 hectares with an income of over 500 million VND/ha/year or more; maintain the structure as the district's key crop with an area of 4,400 ha - 4,500 ha; 2,200 hectares of durian apply high technology, intensive farming process for high productivity and quality.

The area of durian cultivation with an income of 200 million VND/ha or more is 2,297ha, of which 1,397ha has a revenue of 500 million VND/ha or more, many areas have a revenue of over 1 billion VND/ha; on cashew trees, many areas have a revenue of 60-70 million VND/ha, many models of mulberry cultivation and silkworm raising have an income of 180-190 million VND/ha. The average production value per unit area in 2022 will reach 104 million VND/ha, an increase of 63.49 million VND/ha compared to 2017 (in 2017 it reached 41.2 million VND/ha).
Implementing the project to trace the origin of Da Huoai durian, promoting production according to VietGAP standards, building growing area codes, durian packaging facility codes, by the end of March 2023, the whole district had: 521 households/706.4 ha granted VietGAP certification, the number of durian origin traceability stamps used reached over 171,068 stamps; the number of growing area codes registered for requesting issuance was 51 codes/1,034 households/2,189 ha; the number of codes approved to be eligible for official export to the Chinese market was 7 codes/325.6 ha; there were 4 durian packaging facilities eligible to package durian for official export to the Chinese market.
Currently, Da Huoai district has implemented the "Registration for protection, management and development of geographical indications for Da Huoai durian products" to develop the "Da Huoai durian" brand. In addition to durian being the "king" of fruits; the "durian capital of Da Huoai" also has many famous fruits that are favored by customers. The mangosteen area is more than 329 hectares; rambutan is 197 hectares; jackfruit is 144 hectares... has brought high income to many local households.

At the contest, the best durians of the DONA variety weighing from 3kg to 5kg, grown and cared for locally, will be given the opportunity to compete to find the “king” of durian. According to the requirements of the Organizing Committee, the fruit must be of the correct species, purebred, free of impurities, beautiful, balanced, not deformed, without signs of bruising, without signs of pests and mold. Harvested from trees 7 years old or older (to ensure stability in product quality).
In addition, fruit products such as mangosteen; jackfruit; rambutan; avocado... large, beautiful, balanced and ripe, ensuring safety for users; with traceable origin are also given the opportunity to compete, finding the best fruit in each type. The fruits are also arranged in beautiful, scientific booths, according to the chosen theme.
At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded the first prize in the durian fruit competition to the team of Da M'ri Town Agricultural Cooperative; the first prize in the booth competition to the team of Chi Cuong Production and Trade Company Limited (Ha Lam Commune), and the first prize in the presentation competition to the team of Madaguoi Commune Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative.
In his closing speech, comrade Luu Hong Long - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Huoai district emphasized: The local fruit competition is an important event for farmers, businesses, cooperatives growing and processing fruits in the district to exchange, meet, exchange, promote products, exchange experiences, connect markets, consume fruits, especially promote the brand "Da Huoai durian".
