Two banks of Saigon River more than a year ago
Looking back to August 2023, the natural environment on the Saigon River bank on the Thu Thiem side still had dirty alluvial grounds, polluted by garbage and dust, affecting the general landscape of the city center, directly the Bach Dang wharf area, the center of District 1.
At that time, the Thu Thiem bank along the Saigon River had only one dirt road, some unfinished sections were damaged (extending from Ba Son bridge to the roof of Thu Thiem tunnel) and Ong Cay bridge was seriously degraded, forcing it to be sealed.
At the end of 2024, Thu Duc City and units and businesses will start to rush to renovate, with the goal of "flowers blooming on the riverbank" to serve people to welcome spring 2024.
By Tet 2024, the Saigon River bank on the Thu Thiem side was more neat but still simple. The biggest highlight at that time was the sunflower garden. Over the past year, this place has continued to be invested in and built many more items.
The two river banks have more balanced landscapes. District 1 has a "worth the money" view with massive buildings and constructions, while Thu Duc bank also has green parks and entertainment areas where many big programs are held.
And Ba Son bridge stands tall, glowing at night like a thread connecting the two banks of the historic river together.

Riverbank renovation by socialization, reducing budget burden
As a unit participating in the socialization of the renovation of the Saigon River bank on the Thu Thiem side, Mr. Nguyen Kim Toan - Director of Thuong Nhat Company Limited said that the unit is invested in, managed, operated, exploited, and maintained the wharf, multi-purpose community activity yard, and stone park.
These are works under the project "Renovation and embellishment of Saigon riverside park from Ba Son bridge to Thu Thiem tunnel, Thu Thiem ward, Thu Duc city".
Items such as the construction of a boat terminal to develop more means of passenger transport and tourism by water. This is consistent with the planning and existing bus terminal system connecting the Thu Thiem riverside park.
Create attractive destinations, gather the community, attract people and tourists. Highlight the landscape, community-connecting activities on culture, art, entertainment, and unique cuisine.
The park is associated with the wharf activities, creating a space with cultural and historical value of 300 years of Saigon "on the wharf, under the boat".
"The solution of implementing socialization without using budget capital will help the city have public works to serve people and tourists, achieving many economic and social benefits, reducing the burden on the budget and human resources," Mr. Toan shared.
Revenue from construction and operation of the works will contribute to the maintenance and operation costs of the riverside park, bringing about socio-economic efficiency.
