At the conference, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hong Thuc, Project Manager, emphasized: Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage in 2014, which not only affirms national identity and national pride but also promotes national sovereignty . To promote heritage values, it is necessary to connect communities and build common trust through promoting heritage tourism, strengthening national identity, and moving towards developing Millennium Heritage Urban Areas.

The project will evaluate the overall Trang An heritage after 10 years of recognition, through 4 research branches: Natural heritage; Cultural heritage; Settlement heritage and Tourism economy . The project will also evaluate the brand and economic value of representative locations and works, in order to preserve and exploit tourism effectively.

In addition, the Project will provide data to guide policies to promote tourism economy and develop heritage cities in the context of urbanization in Vietnam.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hong Thuc also said that the project will answer questions about the economic value of the heritage, thereby quantifying the value to enhance the brand value of Trang An - Hoa Lu. The project is carried out by domestic and international experts, to ensure scientific and accurate.

The research results will serve as the basis for policies and strategies to effectively exploit the potential of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, preserving its unique historical, cultural and natural values.

Director of Ninh Binh Department of Tourism, Bui Van Manh, emphasized the importance of quantifying the economic value of heritage in socio-economic development and cultural preservation. He called on departments, sectors and local authorities to cooperate closely in preserving and sustainably developing heritage, while encouraging tourism businesses to strictly implement regulations on heritage protection.

He also suggested that the UNESCO Office and international experts coordinate with the Department of Tourism to implement the Project and move towards building the Trang An Declaration or the Charter on World Heritage.

Before the conference, the UNESCO delegation visited Trang An World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

The conference was attended by Mr. Tran Song Tung, Vice Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Communist Magazine; Mr. Firmin Edouard Matoko, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO; and Mr. Jonathan Baker, Chief Representative of UNESCO Office in Hanoi.

Representing international organizations, the conference also had the participation of experts from the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Office, the School of Interdisciplinary Sciences & Arts, and delegates from departments, branches, sectors and People's Committees of districts and cities.
