According to Reuters , Mr Kadyrov's 15-year-old son has been appointed to a senior position in his father's bodyguard. Mr Kadyrov's subordinates have congratulated Adam Kadyrov, who turns 16 this month, on his new position.
One of Mr Kadyrov's top security officials, Zamid Chalaev, said Adam had been appointed head of security for the Chechen leader, a move that would make him one of his father's top bodyguards.
"I sincerely congratulate Adam Kadyrov on his appointment to an important position in the security service of the head of the Chechen Republic," Akhmed Dudayev, head of Chechnya's policy, foreign relations and press service, said on Telegram.
Official Dudayev said Adam Kadyrov had proven himself to be a brave patriot, ready to stand up for religion.
"Adam has shown and proven in practice that he is the most worthy representative of the Kadyrov family and the entire Chechen people," said Magomed Daudov, Chairman of the Chechen Legislature.
He said that Adam had a steadfast character, was principled, had a sincere desire and aspiration to contribute "to our republic and the entire Fatherland".
The Chechen Republic is a predominantly Muslim region. Although still part of the Russian Federation, the Chechen Republic has been granted considerable autonomy by Moscow.
Mr Kadyrov, 46, has been a vocal supporter of Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine and was promoted to lieutenant general of the Russian National Guard last year by decree of President Vladimir Putin.
