Ho Chi Minh City Mr. Pablo Fuentes Nettel, an expert from Oxford Insights, will present the first paper at the AI Summit, updating the "Government AI Readiness Index", on September 22.
AI Summit is part of the Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Day (AI4VN 2023). The program has the theme "Power for Life" and takes place over two days, September 21-22.
Pablo Fuentes Nettel is a Senior Consultant at Oxford Insights, specializing in AI policy, public innovation, and technology governance. He also led the development of the Government AI Readiness Index, overseeing the 2021 and 2022 iterations to assess AI readiness on a global scale for over 180 countries.
In his first presentation on September 22, he will discuss the importance of AI in governments’ reform plans. The AI Readiness Index has the advantage of highlighting key developments and illustrating different approaches across countries. Measuring governments’ readiness to adopt AI has many implications for policymakers.
Next, the expert summarizes the global AI readiness picture. From there, he analyzes the measurement indicators in Vietnam over the past year. From these numbers, Mr. Pablo will suggest some directions to exploit the potential from the dynamic economy, young population, and the presence of technology unicorns.

Last year, AI4VN 2022 also mentioned the report "Government AI Readiness Index" conducted by Oxford Insights in collaboration with the Canadian International Development Research Center. Accordingly, in 2021, Vietnam ranked 62nd out of 160 countries ranked in the world, up 14 places compared to 2020.

The festival continues at 1:00 p.m. with the CTO Summit . The business forum brings together leaders of VNPT, Base, AI Software FPT in Canada to share outstanding AI solutions for each industry... Experts from Heineken, VNPT, FPT will discuss and suggest starting experiences to help Vietnamese businesses not miss out on the AI trend.
This is also the first year the program honors "Company with the best technology environment". From 50 submitted applications, the organizing committee has selected 15 enterprises to the next round and will announce the results at the end of the business forum.

Before that, the festival kicked off with three AI Workshop sessions and one workshop co-organized by the British Embassy, taking place from the afternoon of September 21. Throughout the two days, there was an AI Expo exhibition space, demonstrating multi-industry technology application solutions and a recruitment booth.
The AI4VN Festival is directed by the Ministry of Science and Technology, organized by VnExpress newspaper in coordination with the Information and Communication Technology - Faculty - Institute - School Club (FISU). This is the fifth time the program has been organized, currently attracting thousands of interested and registered people.
