On October 11, the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) chaired and coordinated with the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises to organize the National Conference of Vietnamese Business Associations and Entrepreneurs.

The conference was attended by nearly 300 business delegates nationwide, including leaders of over 30 business associations, enterprises and outstanding businessmen; along with representatives of relevant departments and ministries. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue; Standing member of the Secretariat - Head of the Central Organization Committee Truong Thi Mai sent congratulatory flower baskets.

Speaking at the Conference, VCCI Chairman Pham Tan Cong said that 78 years ago, when the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was just born, President Ho Chi Minh sent a letter to the Vietnamese business community on October 13, 1945. With the attention and recognition of the Party and State for business people, especially during the renovation period, since 2004, October 13 has been chosen as Vietnam Businessmen's Day every year.

The Doi Moi (Renovation) process initiated and led by our Party since 1986 has been like a spring breeze bringing revival to the economy, especially the transition to a socialist-oriented market economy is the source of strong development of the Vietnamese business community in the renovation period.

According to Mr. Pham Tan Cong, currently, the private economic sector has nearly 900,000 enterprises, together with state-owned enterprises, FDI enterprises, and cooperatives, forming a powerful force to promote Vietnam's economic development, bringing Vietnam's GDP scale into the Top 40 of the world, the scale of international trade into the Top 20 of the world, Vietnamese products are proud to reach the global market, to every continent, and at the same time well meet domestic needs. People's lives have improved dramatically, GDP per capita in 2022 reached 4,110 USD, 48 times higher than in 1986.

“With the view that enterprises are the main force in economic development, entrepreneurs are the core force playing the role of leading, managing and operating the country's enterprise team. With the current number of enterprises, the team of entrepreneurs who are business leaders has reached 2-3 million people, and if counting all business people and individual business households, the team of entrepreneurs can reach 10 million. This is a special human resource of the country, playing an important role in industrialization, modernization, building an independent, autonomous and integrated economy of Vietnam in the new period”, said VCCI Chairman Pham Tan Cong.

The Chairman of VCCI emphasized that currently, the economy of our country and the world are facing many difficulties, and businesses are facing even more difficulties. However, the difficult global context is also creating a historic opportunity for Vietnam to participate and create a new position in international value chains. The disruption and rearrangement of international supply chains due to the Covid-19 pandemic and geopolitical conflicts are creating a rare opportunity for Vietnam to welcome a wave of investors, capital flows and technology looking for new destinations.

Vietnamese entrepreneurs and businesses need to seize development opportunities from the new economic order, from new development trends such as green economy, digital economy, and circular economy. Along with that, to successfully integrate internationally and develop sustainably, entrepreneurs and businesses need to equip themselves with a business cultural identity.

“Business ethics is the core factor in building business culture, and business culture is the fundamental factor for sustainable business development, creating more 'soft power' for businesses in integration and development, while bringing the business culture of Vietnamese businessmen and businesses to match the future of our country becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045,” affirmed the Chairman of VCCI.

At the Conference, VCCI Chairman Pham Tan Cong also informed: "Not only sending a flower basket to congratulate our conference, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has signed and issued a new resolution of the Politburo on building and promoting the role of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the new era. This is a very special gift from the Party and State on the occasion of this year's Entrepreneurs' Day".

Accordingly, Resolution 41-NQ/TW dated October 10, 2023 of the Politburo on building and promoting the role of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the new era - replacing Resolution 09-NQ/TW issued 12 years ago. The Resolution was developed and proposed by the VCCI Party Delegation assigned by the Politburo. Accordingly, the Resolution has many new contents on viewpoints, orientations and solutions for developing Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the coming period, towards realizing the aspirational goal of making our country a developed country by 2045.

According to Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission Do Ngoc An, the Resolution on building and developing a team of entrepreneurs in the new period is a new beginning. The summary results of Resolution 09-NQ/TW show the correctness and timeliness of the Party when 12 years ago it issued Resolution 09-NQ/TW on building and promoting the role of the Vietnamese business community in the period of accelerating industrialization, modernization and international integration.

“After 12 years of implementing the Resolution, we have achieved very important and positive results. However, to continue to build and promote more strongly the role and contribution of the business community in the new period, contributing to the realization of the country's development goals to 2030 and vision 2045 set by the 13th National Party Congress, it is necessary to have a new Resolution of the Politburo on this issue,” the Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission emphasized.

In particular, Deputy Head of the Committee Do Ngoc An said that, in addition to inheriting the remaining valuable contents of Resolution 09-NQ/TW, Resolution 41-NQ/TW also introduces new contents in viewpoints, orientations, goals, tasks and solutions.

It is known that on the afternoon of October 11, the Prime Minister and the Government Standing Committee met with Vietnamese businessmen at the Government Office to listen to opinions and recommendations from the Vietnamese business community.

After more than 6 months of launching the songwriting contest about entrepreneurs, the song “Proud of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs” by musician Pham Tien Dung was voted by the VCCI Executive Committee, which consulted with associations and the business community, to be the common traditional song of Vietnamese entrepreneurs.
