National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue receives First Vice Chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly

The National Assembly Chairman expressed his pleasure at welcoming Ms. Márta Mátrai, a close friend of Vietnam; at the same time, he affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen multi-faceted cooperation with Hungary, a traditional friend and also the first and only comprehensive partner of Vietnam in the Central-Eastern Europe region.

The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the 5th Legislative Dialogue between the leaders of the two countries' National Assemblies held in Vietnam this time with the theme "The role of the National Assembly in the supreme supervision of bilateral cooperation agreements signed between the two countries". Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong and First Vice Chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly Márta Mátrai agreed on many contents in the cooperation between the two countries in many fields, contents related to the role of the National Assembly in the supreme supervision of bilateral cooperation agreements; on enhancing cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies.

The First Vice President of the Hungarian National Assembly respectfully conveyed the greetings of the President of the Hungarian National Assembly, László Kövér, to the President of the National Assembly, Vương Đình Huệ; affirming that the relationship between the two countries has a long history; in 2025, the two countries will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1950 - 2025). In particular, Hungary considers Vietnam a priority partner in its policy of strengthening and expanding relations with countries in the Southeast Asian region, especially in the fields of diplomacy, economy, parliament, etc. On the contrary, in the European Union (EU), Hungary is a bridge between EU member countries and Vietnam.

Informing that Hungary is ready to share its experience in the fields of agriculture, science, digitalization, etc. with Vietnam, Vice President of the National Assembly Márta Mátrai said that in June 2024, Hungary will assume the rotating presidency of the European Council in the second half of 2024; affirmed that Hungary will support in promoting the remaining EU member states to ratify the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA); urge the EC to soon remove the IUU "yellow card" warning for Vietnamese seafood products and obstacles in bilateral trade relations.

At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and First Vice Chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly both said that the Comprehensive Partnership between Vietnam and Hungary has developed positively in all fields and channels in recent years, especially in politics - diplomacy, economics - trade, education - training, culture, etc. The two countries have maintained regular exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations. The exchange of delegations has contributed to bringing the relationship between the two countries to a new height. The relationship between the two National Assemblies continues to be developed through meetings between high-ranking leaders of the two countries, including the contribution of the Friendship Parliamentarians' Group.

The National Assembly Chairman said that the two countries have a good cooperative relationship in many fields and there is still a lot of room for strengthening cooperation, such as in the fields of science and technology, innovation, education, sports, etc.; At the same time, he agreed with the First Vice President of the Hungarian National Assembly that the two sides need to strengthen cooperation and connection at the central, local and business levels. The two Friendship Parliamentarian Groups of the two countries' National Assemblies need to establish a network of connections between generations of students, propose initiatives on innovation, and contribute to the development of the relationship between the two countries. National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized that each former student, scholar and intellectual is an important bridge to connect the two countries.

Continuing to implement the contents of the Cooperation Agreement between the two National Assemblies signed in 2022, the National Assembly Chairman agreed on the topic of the legal seminar between the two National Assemblies to be held alternately in Hungary in 2025. The National Assembly Chairman wished Hungary success in its role as rotating President of the European Council, hoping that in this position, Hungary would support the promotion of the ASEAN-EU Strategic Partnership and the development of Vietnam-EU relations and promote the official visit of high-ranking EU leaders to Vietnam.

On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman thanked Hungary for providing scholarships to Vietnamese students; hoped that Hungary would continue to create conditions for the Vietnamese community to stabilize their lives, integrate well and make positive contributions to the socio-economic development of Hungary as well as the good traditional friendship between the two countries.

At the meeting, through First Vice President of the Hungarian National Assembly Márta Mátrai, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue sent his regards and invitation to Hungarian National Assembly Chairman László Kövér to pay an official visit to Vietnam.
