National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man meets with President of the Cambodian People's Party and President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen

This afternoon, November 22, in Phnom Penh, within the framework of his working trip to Cambodia, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

President Hun Sen warmly welcomed National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on his first official visit to Cambodia as head of the legislature and representative of the Vietnamese Party and State leaders to attend two important international conferences hosted by Cambodia; emphasizing that the visit is of great significance in contributing to the development of bilateral and multilateral relations and strengthening cooperation between the two National Assemblies.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated Cambodia on its careful preparations to successfully organize the 12th Plenary Session of the Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP 12), thereby affirming the increasingly high position of Cambodia in general and the Cambodian People's Party in particular.

President of the National Assembly sincerely thank President Hun Sen and the Cambodian leaders and people for their warm and friendly reception for the delegation; respectfully send greetings and best wishes of health from General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to President Hun Sen.

The National Assembly Chairman congratulated the great and proud achievements that the Cambodian people have achieved in recent times under the wise reign of King Norodom Shihamoni, the leadership of the CPP, the Senate, the National Assembly and the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia, including the important role of President Hun Sen; congratulated the great victory of the CPP in the recent elections, demonstrating the trust and support of the vast majority of the people for the CPP; believed that, in the coming time, under the leadership of the CPP, Cambodia will continue to gain many new and greater achievements in the cause of national construction.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam always attach importance to and give high priority to consolidating and enhancing the good neighborly relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability between Vietnam and Cambodia, in the spirit of "selling distant brothers, buying close neighbors", for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that Vietnam and Cambodia are two neighboring countries close geographically; the two ruling parties have the same origin as the Indochinese Communist Party, and have stood shoulder to shoulder against the common enemy to liberate the nation and unify the country in the past as well as in the cause of building and defending the country today. History has proven that solidarity, cooperation, and mutual assistance are objective inevitability, the law of survival, and the most important factor for the security and development of each country.

President Hun Sen affirmed that Cambodia will never forget Vietnam's sincere and meaningful assistance in the past and present. Faced with common regional and global challenges today, the two countries must bond and cooperate more closely in all areas of politics, economics, trade, defense, security, etc.

President Hun Sen suggested that the two sides continue to effectively implement existing cooperation mechanisms and maintain strategic cooperation mechanisms; continue to consolidate, preserve and develop the solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the three countries of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam with more appropriate, flexible and effective measures and methods in the new period.

President Hun Sen highly appreciated Vietnam's development achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and believed that Vietnam will successfully achieve national development goals on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the country.

At the meeting, the two Presidents were pleased to note that the cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Senate and National Assembly of Cambodia has achieved many good results in recent times on the solid foundation of the historical tradition of solidarity, attachment and mutual assistance between the two Parties and two States.

Based on the good results in bilateral relations, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man made a number of proposals to improve the effectiveness of cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.

In particular, the two countries continue to maintain existing cooperation mechanisms between the two Parties and the two countries. In particular, the two sides need to continue to maintain the mechanism of High-level Meetings between the two Parties; increase meetings and contacts between high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and the two countries. Vietnam always supports and is happy when Cambodia develops in peace, security, safety, and stability, and considers it in Vietnam's interests.

President Hun Sen agreed with the National Assembly Chairman's proposal that both sides should firmly adhere to the principle of not allowing any political or military force to use their country's territory to fight against the other; effectively implement the agreements signed between the two sides; coordinate in the fight to prevent sabotage activities of hostile forces, prevent transnational crimes, cooperate in protecting national security, and strictly control to prevent cross-border crimes; coordinate in preventing fake information, using social networks to spread false news, and inciting and dividing the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries.

On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman thanked President Hun Sen and the Cambodian Government for always paying attention, helping, and creating favorable conditions in terms of material, spiritual, and legal basis for people of Vietnamese origin in Cambodia to live, work, and study stably and long-term in Cambodia.

The National Assembly Chairman suggested that both sides continue to innovate and diversify propaganda forms so that people, especially the young generation of the two countries, have a correct understanding of the traditional relationship of solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Regarding the Mekong River issue, the National Assembly Chairman suggested that Cambodia strengthen cooperation and close coordination between the two countries and other countries, international and regional organizations in preserving, protecting and effectively and sustainably using the Mekong River's water resources.
