President Vo Van Thuong visited his school and former teachers on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20.
This morning (November 13), President Vo Van Thuong and his delegation visited and worked at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City.
Returning to visit the school, President Vo Van Thuong and the delegation performed a flower offering ceremony at the Traditional Space of the Saigon-Gia Dinh-HCMC Student Movement. From the good values formed in the history of development of more than 65 years, generations of students of the school have always continued the good and bright tradition of Vietnamese students, which is the tradition of patriotism.
Notably, returning to his old school in the atmosphere of the Vietnamese Teachers' Charter Day, President Vo Van Thuong planted a yellow apricot tree brought from his hometown Vinh Long as a gift to the school.

The President also visited a class of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, visited the campus and wrote in the guest book. In the class of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication students, the President talked with the students about their studies, including discussing with the students how to title the article of today's event.
Speaking at the event, President Vo Van Thuong sent his congratulations to teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20. At the same time, the President also discussed the Party and State's views on the role of intellectuals in the field of social sciences and humanities in building and defending the Fatherland.

Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, said that today is a very special day for the teaching staff, students and pupils of the school when they welcome Politburo member, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Vo Van Thuong, an excellent alumnus of the 1988 Marxist-Leninist philosophy class of Ho Chi Minh City University of Science (now the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) and of the philosophy graduate class at the school.
"The school is truly happy and grateful that no matter what position he holds, the excellent former student Vo Van Thuong always looks towards the beloved school with its long tradition of academics, science and revolution. He often visits the health and work of teachers. Generations of students of the school always remember and are proud of the journey of studying, training and contributing to the country and the people that he has been carrying out," shared the President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City.
The President and the delegation performed the flower offering ceremony at the traditional space of the Saigon-Gia Dinh-HCMC student movement at the school.
Associate Professor, Dr. Phuong Lan also emphasized that the school is a gathering place for leading scientists in the field of social sciences and humanities. Not only that, in the South, the school is a pioneer in opening new training and scientific research fields to meet social needs.
In particular, Associate Professor, Dr. Phuong Lan said that the school has attracted international students and trainees from more than 85 countries and territories to study and conduct long-term research and thousands of students to study and conduct short-term research every year.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a member of the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. The school offers 34 undergraduate majors, 34 master’s majors and 18 doctoral majors in 7 fields: social and behavioral sciences, humanities, educational sciences and teacher training, journalism and information, business and management, social services, hospitality-tourism-sports and personal services. The school currently has nearly 17,000 students and postgraduates in various types of training.

President Vo Van Thuong was a student of the Philosophy Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Science (now the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) in the 1988-1992 school year. Later, at this university, the President pursued a master's degree in philosophy and received a master's degree in philosophy in 1999 with a thesis on ethics among students in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2017, when the university celebrated its 60th anniversary, the President was one of the 10 outstanding alumni of the university.

Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Tinh, senior lecturer, former Party Secretary, former Vice President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, former Director of the Center for Political Theory of Ho Chi Minh City National University. Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Tinh is the author and co-author of many reference books and monographs socialized through publishers and is also the co-editor and co-author of many textbooks of the Ministry of Education and Training. These textbooks have been and are being used for teaching at university and postgraduate levels nationwide, such as History of Philosophy Textbook , Marxist-Leninist Philosophy Textbook , Philosophy Textbook , Basic Principles of Marxism-Leninism Textbook , Ho Chi Minh Thought Textbook , etc.
