(To Quoc) - "What do our children learn in school?" is a book by author Nguyen Minh Hai released on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20.
The work "What do our children learn in school?" by author - journalist Nguyen Minh Hai is the feelings, understanding, sympathy and mutual support in educating children between schools and parents - a key issue in the field of education, in which teachers and students play the role of direct factors promoting development in this educational environment.
Surely those who have children going to school have the same concern about what and how our children learn in school. We also want to know more about our children's learning, living, behavior, relationships and many other activities in class and at school.
We want to know not only because of our boundless love for our children, but also because through this we can coordinate and share with the school in teaching our children, as well as have more ways to help our children learn better. Those questions were mentioned by scholar Nguyen Hien Le in the book "Tomorrow's Generation", first published in 1952. Until now, almost every parent asks similar questions.
As a parent, a person interested in the field of education, a person with certain experiences in teaching, author Nguyen Minh Hai himself also has the same interest as many others. From observation, listening, learning, and contemplation, the author does not try to find answers, but rather, the author sees and raises some stories, some situations, some problems in teaching, learning in particular and in educational activities in general, with specific comments and suggestions.
Over the years, the author has expressed these things in the form of articles in many newspapers and magazines. Now the author has compiled those articles into a thin book entitled "What do our children learn in school?".
The book is 208 pages thick, including 41 articles with 3 main parts: How do our children learn in school?; Teacher models; Some issues of education.
Starting with the article asking the question "What do our children learn in school?", which has long been thought to be a simple question, it turns out to be very difficult to answer thoroughly. The problem is that the education sector must really answer that question to parents, not just when parents ask, then struggle to find the answer. Part one: How do our children learn in school? This part reflects, introduces, suggests, and suggests some content, methods, and ways that our children are learning, should learn, and need to learn in school, in order to ensure the requirement of "literature learning". Part two : What can we learn from a teacher? This part suggests the image of a teacher that should be in school, in the classroom to be able to do his job well, and at the same time convince both students and parents, aiming towards the goal of "learning manners" of students. Part three : Some issues of education. This part reflects some stories, situations, and problems of education in our country today; In the context of increasingly deep integration and digital transformation, in addition to the content that needs to be constantly innovated, there are issues that, although very old, still need to be maintained and implemented well.
"It would be a mistake to think that a teacher is just a person who teaches words - in the sense of imparting knowledge. Although this is the main function of a teacher, besides that, a teacher has many other duties such as being a role model in ethics and lifestyle, being a motivator, being a person who corrects the mistakes and shortcomings of students, being a person who provides practical help both materially and spiritually to students in certain specific conditions. A teacher is an inspiration to students..." - journalist Nguyen Minh Hai shared.
The author mentions from the traditional teacher model to the 4.0 teaching profession stage where teachers must update technology to keep up with the times. Above all, teachers are the ones who inspire the future generations of the country. First of all, students learn the knowledge that teachers impart. Furthermore, students also learn effective learning methods. What motivates them is to learn more about the style and model of the teacher, which is the motivation for them to study and strive during their school years. The maturity and success of students is the pride of parents, teachers and schools. Students are the future results of modern education, the generation that builds and creates a country that is increasingly developed and prosperous.
A small book cannot fully discuss all aspects and issues of education, but can only partly suggest ideas and thoughts to schools, teachers and parents, which can contribute to making teaching in particular and education in general more and more effective, meeting the increasing demands of society.
The book was published by Ho Chi Minh City General Publishing House and launched on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20 (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2024).
